Atrix 4G or Inspire 4G? Help Me Please!

To the OP...I would think that if ATT is going to start selling the inspire on the 13th, their reps or best buy's should have the inspire in hand (at least one of the reps should have one by now). Try your local stores and see if they have one you can look at...that will at least give you a feel for it and a little better idea of what you want.

I see you have an nexus s on atnt. How is the service on edge? I'm thinking of getting one as well.

Well service for at&t is amazing in my area i have full bars almost everywhere edge is ok i get full bars for 3g (on other devices) and full edge. sms and calls go through great no degradation.

I think im one of the few who is happy with AT&T lol but i spend most of my time on wifi i have wifi at home and in my office. i do some browsing on the go and it works okay just have to make sure flash is set to on demand but it works good for my use. i will still be picking up an atrix or inspire(most likely atrix) which will replace the nexus as my daily driver and use the nexus for fun and to always try the latest updates.

so if it is going to be your main phone for a while i wouldnt recommend it unless you dont do much web browsing off wifi or are always on wifi.

the funny thing is inspire goes on sale same day of preorder for atrix so head to an at&t store try the inspire if you like buy and if you dont preorder the atrix.

What time does AT&T stores open on Sundays? I'm having a tough time deciding btw the Atrix or the Inspire now. I can get the Inspire and if its not what I want, return it for the Atrix.

Inspire 4g- No front facing camera and only HSDPA 850 / 1900

I'm really surprised HTC did not include 2100 for overseas use. While the Atrix has 2100...how long before the unlock comes? I feel the the Inspire will have more support from the start and may be easier to customize. Cheaper also.

Get the atrix. If the dev community likes it, which they will, they will provide some sort of way of opening it up. They did with the droid x and it's locked. Plus for $100 more your getting a better phone.

that is weird to exclude 2100 band. The inspire will ahve more support for two reaosns 1. its htc and the hacking community loves them because they are easy to hack and mod. 2. its essentially a desire hd.

the atrix will likely have a locked bootloader so it can be rooted but roms will take longer and hopeflly no efuse.

if your most important care is roms go inspire. but if your not one who hacks then they are both great devices. and i retain my original statement.

buy or try inspire and then if you dont like return for atrix. both phones will have good life and come with 2.2 form there it depends on your preferences.

actually the droid x is not opened up. its rooted, but its not unlocked. if it was unlocked youd get custom kernels which is the most important part for improving battery life and getting updates faster.

To the OP, if youre only interested in rooting to tether, then get the atrix, because like i just said. the phony will get rooted but it will not get its bootloader unliocked resulting in no kernels.

sounds like you are pretty new to hacking and dont know what to expect.Dont get overly excited because its nothing like jailbreaking an iphone. you dont get everything for free etc. its cool but at the same time its over rated.

I think i personally am getting the inspire outright, and then going to get a new phone for contract price in june when my 2 year thing is ready for renewal.

if you have anymore questions let me know and ill help., im all over this android att stuff right now. because i am an original att person, but recently bought the epic 4g when it came out and have a sprint contract right now that im bailing on when i can affford the inspire

EDIT: i forgot to mention, do you really even use a frontfacing camera? do you have one? if not i bet youll never ever use it. i have on and have never used it. nobody i know has a front facing camera. the few times ive used it its shotty compared to the iphone face time

when android has a native video chat itll be worth it. but i do take pics some times with it

I'm going with the Inspire now. I'll be getting it off contract which is fine. Hopefully something bigger and better will be available when I'm due for a real upgrade and not the exception upgrade in 2012.

I too have an issue about which to choose. I want the front facin camera, but it isnt a huge deal for me. I agree with what someone had said earlier. Get the inspire, try it out. If it doesnt work for you return it an get the atrix. Another thing for me is the battery. the atrix has a 1930 mah battery while the inspire is only 1230. I just like having the option to not have to charge my phone a lot.

Neither have ginger bread at the moment. It will take a few months for an update to be released, hopefully this update will eliminate many of the teething problems (aka bugs) of these devices.

BTY: You can always have the up-to-date OS if you root your device and install a ROM (i recommend Cyanogen ROM 7)

I have the Torch now and I hate this thing. It wasn't my first Black Berry but it will be my last. As for the off contract price of the Atrix, I would venture a guess of $600.

here's a couple of insider tips from an at&t authorized retailer employee: and my comments do not directly represent the views of AT&T

At&t has anounced that LTE will roll out later this year but wont be complete until end of 2013.

We only get our hands on with the phones at the trainings that are 2-4 weeks before launch and then it's only launch day that we see a live phone again. I went to an ATRIX 4G training a week ago and the phone is sick! I am 90-10 leaning for the atrix but i have two upgrades available so i may get both and give my wife the other or maybe go with two atrix 4g's for the web chat.

About the comment about how much at&t employees get paid, it has nothing to do with how much you pay per month. We get paid on the 2 yr agreement and sometimes the data and text feature. We are not ballers thats for sure. Maybe 3-10 years ago it was good to be in wireless sales but now a days everyone has a cell phone so the industry has changed a lot and we dont get anywhere near the big bucks they use to pay on activations like 10 years ago.

I just want you to understand the next time youre in front of a wireless salesman at an at&t store they ARE NOT like a used car salesman that is just trying to get a high interest rate and extended warranty on you. We have to really earn your business and make sure youre happy because like all of you know you can RETURN the sale and we dont make a penny then. I like to think of myself as an assistant buyer instead of someone trying to sell you something you dont want, like a kirby vacuum lol. So yes come pick our brains and demo the phones. Most stores should have a live ATRIX 4G with the webtop dock live too. Even Authorized retailers will too when they usually dont so that tells you something about how special this phone is
