Atrix battery life

Hey guys, I don't know if its just me, but I got my ATRIX on the 22nd and ive only discharged the phone fully 2 times so far, and not the first charge, is there any recommendations that you all have to extensive my battery life? Im getting ~10 hours on a charge, i use it moderately to heavy! But. I don't see a great battery life!

I would say 10 hrs of moderate to heavy usage on any smart phone is pretty good.

Sessiz is right... w/ moderate to heavy use 10 hours is pretty par for the course. If your on WiFi a good part of the time you may be able to squeeze more time out of it. I'm a light to moderate use and I'm normally around 40 - 50% at the end of the day.

yeah 10 hours is par. I was killing my 8900 in that amount of time with heavy use. My Atrix I done it in less but I use it more. The gingerbread update did seem to increase my battery life.

GB does increase the battery a little, it forces more processes into deep sleep and prevents more from doing partial wakes on the device. I saw about a 10% increase in battery life when I upgraded my Nexus 1 to GB.

ok what do you guys think about this: its been 5 hours 22 minutes and the battery is at 50% with display being used for 2 hours. I think thats pretty bad... I had much better results before the GB how many hours do you use your display before it hits 30%?

just found my post with screenshots from a few weeks ago... yes. the battery that im getting now is simply abysmal... I could go for 22 hours with display on for 3hrs and 6 minutes before it hit %30. I dont get it... people report battery life improvement but I guess Im an unlucky one...

I show 10 hours and 11 mins with battery at 50%. Display on 3 hours and 10 mins.

It has improved some with GB, maybe around 10% or so.

thats exactly what i though... this is really bad... I'm gonna try using another battery...

9h 10m and I have 67%. I go online occasional throughout the day and have 3 email accounts synced. Also run beautiful widget, traffice monitor, and circle battery widget. love my atrix battery life. only time i see my battery drop if I start playing games.

Well, yesterday I took it off an overnight charge and I went a while on it, I didn't use wifi for very long at all, maybe 10 minutes(I was grandfathered into unlimited data from my BlackBerry!) So I don't need wifi often, and by 3 pm I was down to about 30% is this about normal?

That sounds a little low but it depends on how strong the signal in your area is also. It will deplete faster in low signal situations.


I decided to let it complete run down and it was a little over 19 hours before the phone shut off.

how many hours of display use you got for that period of time? display consumes most of the battery juice. my battery life significantly degraded since the update.

Upgraded to the Atrix for $29 from Let'sTalk/Walmart at the beginning of July and it has been fantastic and unbelievably fast. Here are a couple of things I have bought to make it even better.

- Bought the real Motorola Battery for $45.( I have bought the cheap knock off batteries from eBay before, but chickened out this time. I have had good luck with Mugen or Lion, in the past but they were same price as Motorola. Bought the wall charger from Naked Cell Phone on eBay. Both have worked flawlessly so far. So phone with battery was $29, second battery was $45, go figure.)

-I use my Atrix all day long for business use, connected to 2-3 emails, news feeds, texting, phone calls, etc. and get 19 – 24hrs. of use from the Atrix charge and consider my usage heavy. That’s why I have two batteries, I am not sure how some people survive with just one battery and have to charge it during the day. Besides having to reboot once a day gets ride of any ghost processes that could be in Ram.

-Using “Battery Monitor Widget/ Pro” from Android Market; Free/$5.73. It has some of the best if not the best battery monitoring features anywhere. Shows 1% increments for battery usage and battery time available.

I have two spare batteries with me all the time. Before the update I haven't had a need to use them but now there were two times so far when I needed to replace the dead battery. So yes while I absolutely agree with you about getting a spare one I must say you are still getting a fantastic battery life. I reset my phone to factory defaults again yesterday but it sucks anyway..

10 hours at like 20% display with heavy usage and about 18-20 hours without heavily playing nfs angry birds netflix or tons of internet so I can get by on one charge....but do I do it...hell no I'm a fiend for my phone so I charget twice a day to stay on the safe side...lol can't have it die in the evenning

10hrs at 20%? well... mine is 9hrs 30mins right now at 40% display of 2hrs 17mins interesting... so im actually getting somewhat better results than some people here...
I wish i could put back the froyo 1.83 build...

i have to say, compared to my BB 9700 and 9800, the battery life of this thing is horrendous. display brightness bottomed out, with only one gmail account (my other gmail, and my hotmail, and my school email arent even on this phone) with similar usage, i cant even get a full days worth.

its too bad the phone is so good, otherwise i would have brought it back after a week because of the battery life.

Update: after a couple discharges, and a factory reset, I believe I solved my problem! I took my phone off the charger this morning at 2am. I let it sit with service on, and just lay there. 9am-openes up Adidas MiCoach( recommend) and I did a 20 minute workout(gps on, music on, cell service on etc.) And I've been using it alot and im on 10 hours of battery life at 70% woo!

well I am a bit puzzled today, right now its been 15 hrs. 56 minutes with display time on 4hrs 9m voice calls 31 minute, wifi is runninng almost all day.. so yeahh.. its not bad at all.... not bad... I just don't get it, does the battery have to adust itself to the new system update or is it vice versa? idk.. it seems to be improving....
I removed LauncherPro and using stock moto UI which I actually find kinda OK... with exception of really bad color choices.. i also downloaded batery monitor widget pro as Dude2 suggested (thanks btw) , which is a really nice and light weight application and it gives advanced battery information. I highly recommend this app.
