I've been wanting to make this leap of faith for a while. What has me finally making the jump is Android has finally got down the Exchange integration with the third party app Enhanced Email. I stayed away from android bc they didn't have the subfolder push down the way BB has it, but after getting on my friends android phone and using Enhanced Email.....its finally there.

I know there are alot of BB converts out there....just looking to see if i should wait on the Infuse to come out or just go right for the Atrix

the biggest reason i didn't even consider the Infuse was the gigantic size of it. 4.5" vs 4" made the decision very easy for me when all 3 of AT&T's "4G" phones were announced at CES. the inspire didn't have an FFC and was a phone that's technically been out for half a year so i crossed that one out too.

Screen resolution on the Atrix is good. 960x580 qHD display. BUT the actually quality of the screen on the infuse will be amazing. SAMOLED+ is hands down the best screen technology out there.

The other question is are you going to want to root? If so right now the Atrix (I might be out of date here) is not rootable if you have the latest OTA. The verdict is out on the Samsung, but all indications are that full root won't be possible (it's not on the other Galaxy S phones). The bootloader is the problem.

If it were me (and it is because I'm planning on going to AT&T) I'd wait a little longer and see what the Thrill 4G has to offer (besides the 3D). Or the Galaxy S 2 if you want the SAMOLED+ display.

Root for the 1.5.7 OTA update is actually available now thanks to the devs @ xda :)

And, yes....get the Atrix! Perfect screen size for a phone if ya ask me. 4.5 is huge. Kinda like my sister's huge Inspire...O_O

I also came from a Blackberry... I'm sure you won't regret your decision :)

I also came from a BlackBerry...Bold 9000. I'm sure you won't regret your

thanks everyone on their input.....the more feedback I get the more I want to make the change. Like I said before the whole full exchange integration (sub folders) kind of deterred me but after testing the EE on my buddies its definitely worth it. Plus tethering is available on it. I'll miss the Torch but it's time to explore the android world.

i came from a line of BB, pearl 8100 - bold 9000 - bold 9700 - atrix.

the atrix is a good buy, at least for me. buying the phone, i did not regret it. however though, i suggest that if you can wait for the infuse to come out, wait for it and play with it first and make a decision after that.

samsung makes great screen, i lie you not. my brothers sprint 4g low power screen shines as bright as my full power screen atrix (brightness level).

if you can not wait, the atrix is a still a good buy.

4inch is perfect, but after you get a good grip on the phone, you will want a bigger screen. i know i do. :D

Well honestly Ive owned the Captivate and loved it. Although Samsung is horrible with updating there software. Thats what XDA and hacking is for. But either way, the super amoled screen is the best I have ever seen on a phone and now I can truley tell the difference with phones without it. Although the qHD screen on the Atrix is very VERY close to it. But it all shows in the Black. Super Amoled is BLACK BLACK. No white shade, no fade nothing. Its beautiful. Plus it will have a 4.5" screen. Im pretty sure that would be the better bet I think if you dont mind the screen size. I owned the Dell Streak and didnt mind the size, I actually like it more. Im gonna wait myself and see how the Infuse stacks up to the Atrix.

@ iamlilysdad
The good folks at xda had root working on the update in a day or two. This phone is ABSOLUTELY rootable.
Now, I have not read anywhere that there would be a locked bootloader on the new samsung, but the existing galaxy s phones are DEFINITELY not locked and are DEFINITELY rootable. Not sure why you would say this? I am new to modding but recently rooted and installed a custom rom in my wife's captivate without issue. There are tons of them. The atrix has a locked bootloader, but samsung phones currently don't.

@ the OP
Both the phones you mention are going to be excellent devices. I came from a bb and asked myself the same question after I purchased my atrix. The samsung will likely be very slow to get updates just like the cappy was. The upside to that is developer community for the cappy is really good. Given the support over at xda for the cappy it doesn't really matter if samsung or att ever lifts another finger to support the captivate. Unless samsung locks the bootloader on the infuse, like motorola has done with the atrix, it should see some very good support from the community. The atrix is a little different. The bootloader is locked, and that is not likely to change any time soon. The thing is, the atrix is fast enough and customizable enough that it's not so bad not having custom rom's. Some may not agree with that last statement though. The samsung is supposed to be shipped with hsupa functional, while we are still currently waiting with our fingers crossed hoping that att uncorks that feature for us. The sammy is a huge phone too. It's thinner than the captivate too, and the ultra slim form factor is one of the things that combined to ruin the gps performance on the captivate. With this one being even slimmer it is possible that it could suffer the same fate. I don't think you can really go wrong here, but I prefer the atrix and have been enjoying mine a lot.

Thanks again everyone, bought my atrix this evening and rooted it. A great phone all around......filmuskat you were right the screen size is perfect. I had the Inspire in my hand and its like the Zack Morris phone of 2011, Im sure its a great phone but too big haha.

They also don't update the software on their phones in anything approaching a reasonable time-frame. What good is a nice screen when you are stuck on an old version of Android that the latest apps either don't work on or don't work as well as they should?

I personally have never had a good experience with Samsung. I tried 2 Captivates and had issues with the buttons at the bottom once they were in an Otterbox. No matter which button I pushed it went to search. I am going with the Atrix

I came from a iPhone 4, went to the inspire and now on the Atrix ... The Atrix is hands down the best Android Phone I have ever used.

Is there anything the Atrix doesn't do that the BB did? For example. how do you do regular backups to your desktop? What about contact, event and email syncing with Outlook? Did you have to buy an app for that? I'm a current BB 9000 user. I'm done dealing with RIM's defective products. Checked out the Atrix today. It's a beautiful phone. The lack of a physical keyboard was a little off-putting, but the speed made up for that. Web pages loaded in a split second. It was amazing. Backing up and syncing is keeping me from pulling the trigger on this phone though. I can't change everything just to accommodate a phone so, do you sync with Outlook and if so, is it a solid process or problematic?
