I have a s4 att refurbished model and I received the notification a while ago about a update so I hit download now and it demanded I connect to WiFi so I joined my local college 400 megabyte a sec internet and then it asked me to sign in and I did while in the process of signing in it (timed out) I called att they tried pushing it through again and it failed on their end so the rep gave up and told me to wait for the notification again.... The next day I looked in the notification bar and it said it was downloading over data!!!! I called att and they were shocked that it was downloading over data a couple days go by of this notification so I go to setting to see if I can manually check for the update and no screen pops up it just shows words at the bottom of the screen saying "connecting to DM server" I called att and asked them what was happening and they told me to call Samsung so I did try recommended me to factory data reset and try again so I delete everything but I have backups anyway as soon as it turns on from the reset it said downloading from DM server and it still says this and it is 2 weeks later and it is draining my battery and heating up the phone. Does anyone have a clue what this is and or how to stop it or push it all the way through????

Have you tired Samsung Kies? I would think if you tired updating it over the computer it would go all the way through. But I think you should see if it connects to the Kies application first, if it does and says software update available, you should do a factory reset and take your SD card out. Then connect the phone to the computer again and let it download the update and install it. Then when it comes back on don't sign in to anything just skip every screen till you get to the home screen, then go to settings and do one more factory reset, after that finishes connect it one more time to the computer and see if there is any other updates. If there are no more updates set the phone up as you normally would, sign in to your accounts when prompted, but DO NOT RESTORE A RECENT BACK UP FROM GOOGLE SERVERS, JUST CLICK SET UP AS NEW DEVICE. I hope this helps you.

I plugged it into kies but it says up to date and after it tells me that it then says that it can not update over kies and that I need to do it wirelessly

Hmmm. The phone must be causing the problem since it is still trying to update over OTA. It has to download and install the update somehow. Have you tried leaving it on WiFi on the update page for an hour? Does it show the update downloading over WiFi or Mobile Network? Does the update progress at all? If nothing happens I'd think the best thing to do is get a replacement. I hope this helps.

I have left it on WiFi for days and nothing happened. There is no progress bar and the page to even see it seems as though it doesn't exist I have cleared the cache and and everything of that nature. I would love a replacement but the warranty is up

So even when you did a full factory data reset it still wouldn't download the update correctly? If not I'm clueless to know how to help, but I will keep trying to find a way to help you get it to take the update. I'm sorry you can't get a replacement.
