You have to use this method: [ROOT][GUIDE] HBoot 2.02/2.10 SOFF - Root! The Final Frontier Edition - Upd. 12.21.10 - xda-developers

I used this guide to root my EVO HBoot 2.02 all went well I have been flashing like crazy. Yesterday I decided to install Cyanogen as I read through the Cyanogen thread it said the best way to install was through ROM manager so I tried and of coarse it didn't work so used ROM manager to flash the Clockworks Recovery this broke my Recovery and sent me in to a black screen boot loop. I of coarse then re read the thread on rooting and discovered that the issue was known and had a fix available. Non of that was in that thread when I Rooted or I wouldn't have done that. WARNING if you use Clockworks recovery and ROM Manager to flash ROMs you will can break your Bootloader.

Thanks,
Dave

Okay to use Myn's Warm Updater?

I plan to flash Myn's Warm TwoPointTwo Rom on my refurbished device after I get it rooted this weekend. Instead of using Rom Manager to Flash Roms, is it okay to use the Warm Updater? Will this break my bootloader?

Until things get figured out I am just going to install all my ROMs by downloading them to my SD card boot recovery and install that way. I have done that allot it seems too work fine.

Welcome fellow Texan,

Dave

Thanks Dave!

As you can tell by my number of posts, I am mainly a lurker...I learn much better by the experience of others. Isn't that the way of most Texans?

The warm updater uses Amon_Ra to flash stuff right?

If so... Be brave and test it out haha. Someone has too ;)

Rooted again on a refurbished device!

thefredelement, Big D5 and igots,

I must say I appreciate all the information you all have made available! I went ahead and bit the bullet to root my replacement device this evening using the following method...[ROOT][GUIDE] HBoot 2.02/2.10 SOFF - Merry Christmas Edition - Upd. 12.25.10.

It is a fairly simple process if one follows the instructions precisely. I have the 2.10 HBoot on this device and using this guide was just as easy as rooting my original Evo with the regular process. It only took about 45 minutes from start to finish.

I am running the SprintLovers Rom for the time being...Myn's WarmTwoPointTwo RLS 5 should be available soon and I will be flashing it as my regular go to Rom.

I just felt like all three of you could use some appreciation for all the help and information you give.

Thank you again...

Shannon
