Depending on which rom I'm using, I use the ALSA AudioFX widget combo or DSPManager. If you know how to use an EQ, then that's basically all you need.

^^ this. Beats / MegaBass whatever-the-hell is just an EQ preset. Get a ROM with DSP manager, turn on the Bass Boost to "slight" and turn up the higher-range in the EQ. Done.

Are you sure absolutely sure about that? I got one of the beats mods working along with DSPmanager(using mostly classical and R&B eq preset) and my music sounds way better then when I just had DSPmanager by itself. The bass is also pretty cleaned up and I heard a few more highs and lows that I didn't notice before.

Positive. You just didn't or couldn't find the right preset with DSP Manager, or it was a placebo effect.

Google this:

Beats+Alsa Galaxy Ace

Or use the Democracy rom in the LoZ thread.

best thing you can do is get better headphones, only so much you can do with an EQ.
PS - beats everything can burn in heck...like monster cable, they're just under-engineered and over priced)......

Eh... Monster Cables tend to be over-shielded for any home work. As a musician, I liked using them for connecting speakers, especially in heavy EMF interference areas. Less interference=less hum. In any kind of home environment, though, they're basically overkill.
