So many issues with this crappy A23 5G. I have run into yet another issue I need help with: I have to disable and reenable auto-adjust brightness it to get it to work sometimes because it becomes unresponsive.
I will take care to. But I am not sure that is the issue since it fixes if I disable/reenable, or lock/unlock my phone. It gets stuck on the lowest brightness setting. It also does this whenever Google Assistant is used through my earbuds while my phone is in my pocket.Oh man this device giving so many issues, make sure the front screen is clean maybe something blocking the proximity sensor
Monitor it in safe mode see if it still happensI will take care to. But I am not sure that is the issue since it fixes if I disable/reenable, or lock/unlock my phone. Sounds about right, you can teach the adaptive brightness and move the brightness slider in that environment and see if it remembersI have been able to reproduce this to experiment further: If I cover the sensor with my shirt and turn my phone screen on, it adjusts accordingly. If I remove my shirt from the sensor while the phone is still on, the brightness does not accommodate to the changed lighting.
So it seems like it only changes the brightness when I turn the screen off and back on again, but not while the screen is already on. Is this normal?
But I still don't understand why does it not adjust when in new ambient lighting? To test, I calibrated it to when me room is dark, and when my lamp is on. I then turn the lamp off and back on, however it doesn't adjust to the new environment. The only way to fix is to turn adaptive brightness off and back on again, every single time.Sounds about right, you can teach the adaptive brightness and move the brightness slider in that environment and see if it remembers
Report the issue through Samsung member app and see hopefully it gets fixed in future updatesBut I still don't understand why does it not adjust when in new ambient lighting? It seems it just learns what I prefer in what lighting, but doesn't adhust on the fly - for example if I walk out of a dark area into light, it stays super dim because it doesn't auto adjust to the new environment. Have to reset the slider every time or turn the phone screen off and back on to force it to.On my Pixel the setting called Adaptive Brightness says it does both Learn and Auto Adjust. On my S21 it's also called Adaptive Brightness but doesn't specify anything. When it's on it Auto Adjusts not sure about Learning use.
Like I mentioned try in safe mode to tell if any 3rd party was responsible , it's supposed to adjust. It seems it just learns what I prefer in what lighting, but doesn't adhust on the fly - for example if I walk out of a dark area into light, it stays super dim because it doesn't auto adjust to the new environment. I agree that they should try safe mode because my Samsung device adjusts.Like I mentioned try in safe mode to tell if any 3rd party was responsible , it's supposed to adjust.
How do I do it? I don't see it as an option in the boot menu.I agree that they should try safe mode because my Samsung device adjusts.
For safe mode press and hold the power off button until the safe mode option appears. I somehow doubt it will make any difference but no harm in trying I guess. How do I do it? I don't see it as an option in the boot menu.
Like I said I tried such things I do not get any buttons or options or anything that say safe mode anywhere. Whether it's holding the power button or power button + holding the volume up key to enter that special screen where you cam whipe cache partition and such. Regardless, I will try that app. Wish I didn't have to resort to apps and that I could have a phone that actually does what it's supposed to. Hooray budget phones I guess...For safe mode press and hold the power off button until the safe mode option appears. I somehow doubt it will make any difference but no harm in trying I guess.
Your experience isn't dissimilar with my A25 but I never use auto brightness any way. Perhaps not quite the solution you're seeking but I prefer to use this instead.... https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.arogulin.brightness&hl=en
There are 6 user-set brightness percentage levels you can configure, then select as appropriate to your preferred brightness level depending on the lighting conditions.
It opens instantly, one tap on the brightness level you want and all done.
On the newer Android versions hold the power button untill u see power off on the screen then long press power off on the screen it should say safe mode and tap and will reboot into that mode , to exit out just reboot againLike I said I tried such things I do not get any buttons or options or anything that say safe mode anywhere. Ok I tried the app but it doesn't do anything different than just adjusting the slider itself. What's the point of it exactly? For safe mode press and hold the power off button until the safe mode option appears. I somehow doubt it will make any difference but no harm in trying I guess.

So that tells me that no 3rd party apps are responsible, either have to try factory reset, something blocking the view of the proximity sensor /hardware issue .It still doesn't do it even in Safe Mode
