Auto brightness sensor/Proximity Sensor not Working

That's a nuisance.:-\ Sounds like the best thing to do at this point -- hopefully the replacement works flawlessly!

I have the same issue, none of the sensors work, i mean proximity, gps, auto brightness, and gyroscope don't work on my Galaxy note 8.
Does anybody know what should i do?
I also rebooted my phone.
When i am on Google maps, and turn the location sensor on, suddenly the phone finds the location, after that, the sensors doesn't recognize the location.
it also happens for auto brightness sensor, when i unlock the phone, it works, suddenly it stops working and doesn't change.
I tried *#0*# none of the sensors values are changing.
I don't know what the problem is? Is it about the software or the hardware?
I updated the phone, did factory reset, wiped all the data, but nothing's happened.

I did some more digging and apparently Verizon likes to lock their phones up as tight as they can and took this menu away from us. Boo.

Currently trying no case + fresh auto brightness reset to see if anything comes of that then I'll try the system cache wipe. Haven't had to give back a fresh phone before, do you think they'd give one out for something I can't replicate on command?

I have a similar issue. I'm with Verizon as well, so I guess accessing a service menu isn't an option.
My auto brightness seems to work with my case off the phone (similar to your case). A Samsung rep assured me that there is only one sensor, next to the self facing camera.
As a test, I only put the case partially on, so that the top of the phone was fully exposed, but the brightness still remained the same.
However, when I put the case partially on, so that the top was in, and BOTTOM was exposed, the brightness changed.
This left me wondering if there are multiple sensors, or the sensor is at the bottom of the phone instead.
It would be great to narrow down the culprit. Let me know if you have the same issue, when recreating the same experiment.

Sounds like you may need to contact Samsung about getting work done on your phone. As it is a new phone, it should be covered under warranty.

I ended up sending in the phone to Samsung for warranty work. Because a reset would fix the issue I was nervous that they wouldn't fix anything. They ended up diagnosing and replacing a bad proximity sensor. So I hope that's all there is to it.

I have the same problem. This is the second Note 8 with the same issues, only fingerprint scanner works others not. For the first Note 8,they did a 1 to 1 rep as I used that for about 10 days. But this time no, as this time it is after almost 2 months. I will get only a mother board rep.

Glad they're finding the problem and able to fix it for you. A little annoying that they no longer offer loaner phones and we have to try and find an old one to use (if we have one).

Haven't had an issue with mine since I got it back, so I'm happy in the end. Just a bumpy start to a brand new $900 investment.
