DroidX, do you know if its possible to use the new RUU in place of your old one and update to the latest ROM? Doesn't the root process basically downgrade to allow S-OFF then install a non-SOFF RUU back to .9?
i havnt had time to look into it, if you find out let me know and ill update

I literally BRICKED my phone after ROOTING! :-) Thanks DroidXcon! That was so much fun. Had no problem at all and hope to not encounter one ever. I love ROOTING except the BRICKING literally.

I'm sorry to hear that , what did verizon say when you brought it in, hope you didnt tell them you were trying to root.

Hey, I did #1 and it said "pushing RUU" for about 15 minutes then everything disconnected and my phone never rebooted. What happened? The IMG file is clearly on the device.
Yeah this is all based on connection , did you cover all the basics, HTC sync installed, debugging on and stay awake checked off, charge only , are you using the USB ports in the back of the computer, if you already are try a different port in the back

Dropped you a small donation. Thanks again!

Thank you so much very appreciated :D

My phone wasn't completely wiped.

It wiped accounts and i had to set up my Gmail and work email and a few other things like speed dials and ringtones but the apps i had downloaded were still there. Had to download the Amazon app store again also.

Fortunately I didnt have to start completely over.

Nothing but praise!

DroidX assisted me with rooting my Thunderbolt until well after midnight. Today, I have a rooted phone and nothing but praise and appreciation for DroidX's work and dedication!

Couldn't get it to work on my Dell XPS laptop, tried on my Lenovo and worked the first try. Not sure what the problem was with the Dell.

Almost all problems that people have reported have come from laptops, yeah try a different port

I thought I read it in here somewhere to keep the PG05IMG file on the card then saw we can delete.

Can we delete?

....and it doesn't appear to work on any of my ports. Oh well, I guess I'll have to try on another laptop when I get home.

I have htc sync downloaded and installed on my pc. I cant actually connect my phone to sync, it doesnt seem to recognize it. Is this going to be a problem when I start or does sync just need to be on the computer?

Does anyone know how to access the "Auto Root Folder"?
Can I use a mini SD apadater to load the s/w and the re-install it back in my thunderbolt?

I want to use Absolute System Root Tools app to change my fonts but it says it requires a NAND unlocked device, can I use after rooting with Auto Root?

If I used the original sticky for non-auto root w/ADB on this forum, can I use the auto-unroot deal newly posted now?

Or do I need to stick to non-auto unroot w/ADB since I rooted w/ADB?

Any help appreciated - thanks!

Yes connection is key. you may want to try different USB ports

when you donwload the auto root folder, it is in the form of a zip file, this zip file goes on your computer. right click on the zip file and select "Extract here" then open the file and it is ready to use.... the other update files can be downloaded from the OP and the files go into the the auto root folder. if you need more help please let me know

I have no idea about this as i have only been focusing on rooting... auto root is the same as any rooting method they all lead to the same result, so if it can be used on a rooted phone then it can be used after using auto root.

yes you can use auto unroot even if you rooted manually
