Re: [Auto] Root and Unroot (Windows)**Updated**5/20** w/MR1 updat

Can someone please help a rooting dummy. I am using the autoroot method from the OP It gets to pushing the RUU then changing permissions, the executing Psneuter...mmap<> failed. any suggestions?

Re: [Auto] Root and Unroot (Windows)**Updated**5/20** w/MR1 updat

FYI anyone, I tried endlessly to use autoroot to root my TB on 3 different pc's, the 1st 2 were desktops w 64 bit win 7 os, neither would work. I down loaded all the needed 64 bit drivers needed for this but to no avail neither pc work. So I used my trusty 32 bit win 7 os netbook and........BAM it worked perfectly with not a single hic-up. Also I had the new update from VZW already installed, 1.70.605.0 and v1.39.00.067r, 0.01.69.0625r baseband. Now after the root it downgraded me to 1.13.605.7 and 1.16.00.0402w_1. So I did a CWM back-up, Titanium Backup and did a Dalvik wipe. Then I flashed the 1.39.00.067......radio thru HBOOT and then flashed 1.70.605.0 thru CWM. I didnt loose and data, contacts, pics, apps, etc and didnt even have to recustomize any thing with my phone. My TB works perfectly great, NO ISSUES!!!!!!!!! WAHOO. So Thank You to all the guys that makes things like this possible. I hope any of this info helps anyone.

Re: [Auto] Root and Unroot (Windows)**Updated**5/20** w/MR1 updat

Hey guys (and gals),
I am very close to rooting our phones but I have a few questions and I couldn't find what I'm looking for in the forums. I haven't gone through all the available ROM's and I may want to stick with FROYO 2.2.1. I will be grateful if someone can point me in the right direction for what I am looking for.

If I keep FROYO, is it possible that Veri$on can force push a firmware update because I still have FROYO?
If so, is there something that can block the forced updates?
Is there a FROYO ROM that Veri$on can't force an update on?

Thanks!

if you flash a froyo rom after you are rooted, such as the flyweight rom or bamf 1.8.6, you will not be eligible for OTA verizon updates - bamf 1.8.6 is a very stable, good rom, and i would suggest it if you are interested in a froyo rom. basically the deal with ota updates is if you have the stock rom (verizon's version of stock that is) - and it's just that but rooted, you can still get ota's - once you flash a rom the framework for receiving an ota is diminished/eliminated - so if you go with something like bamf 1.8.6 - which uses the mr2 updated radio (which you probably want) - you should be straight,

Re: [Auto] Root and Unroot (Windows)**Updated**5/20** w/MR1 updat

is there any reason why i receive the following msg:

*daemon not running. starting it now on your port 5037*
*daemon started successfully*
List of devices attached

*
*You should see the serial number of your Android device
*If you are NOT connected please follow these directions

I have tried all 3 usb ports, rebooted laptop / Bolt numerous times, device is also not recognized by HTC Sync.
Would it help any if i factory reset device?

In the OP when it says it will erase my data? What is that referring to? My contacts, pictures, and such? Or something else?

By wiping the data, it means all your apps and settings will be erased - your ROM (stock Froyo) will be downgraded, you'll gain root access, and then your ROM will be updated back to mr1 Froyo when the process is complete. It will be like you just took the phone out of the box.

Your SD card contents will not be effected, so your pics and music or what have you will remain untouched. As for your contacts, you can back them up with google or you can export them to your SD cars before you begin.

Also, AC member twisted umbrella posted a thread that instructs how to backup your data before you root using adb. I haven't tried it bc I rooted months ago, but if you're interested you can search the forums for his post.

Make sure you right click HTC Sync at the bottom and exit. Not sure if that doesn't work though.

Re: [Auto] Root and Unroot (Windows)**Updated**5/20** w/MR1 updat

Excellent program! Used it last night to root a launch day T-Bolt and it went off with no problem.

IF you are dreaming of a rooted T-Bolt but have been hesitant....USE THIS and FOLLOW HTE INSTRUCTIONS!! IT WORKS GREAT!

Thank you again!

Re: [Auto] Root and Unroot (Windows)**Updated**5/20** w/MR1 updat

I've tried to do this a half dozen times now and every time it eventually comes up with a misc.img downgrade checksum error and tells me to pull the battery and try again.

Yay! I rooted last Thursday, and it was painless. Yay!

That's all!

EOM

ps. not to gloat or anything. I basically downloaded the zip, unzipped it to my desktop. Installed HTC Sync and updated the software. And then started the root process.

Re: [Auto] Root and Unroot (Windows)**Updated**5/20** w/MR1 updat

I ran this process, it eventually says that I'm supposed to do a battery pull, restart program and choose option 2. I have done this twice, and it says the same thing again. Am I missing something?

Re: [Auto] Root and Unroot (Windows)**Updated**5/20** w/MR1 updat

i have downloaded this twice but do not have all the files shown here. for some reason do not have the su file or the superuser.apk but i have a readme file that's not shown here. will this still work or do i need to download those two files somewhere else and put them in this folder? sorry if this has been asked before. i was going to read the whole post before i asked but somewhere in between pages 70 and 80 my lack of patience got the best of me and i skipped to 115.

Same thing happened to me 4 times before I then switched to the different usb ports on the rear of my comp AND restarted my comp before it finally worked. Not sure which one solved the problem so you may want to try both.
Hope this helps.

Re: [Auto] Root and Unroot (Windows)**Updated**5/20** w/MR1 updat

went back and found this on page 87. if the RUU is prerooted and contains the superuser app i'm assuming it also contains the su file i don't have? also i assume that the su file has something to do with the superuser app.

Thank you so much :)

there is an unroot method , but i'm still working on it, if someone needs to unroot right away please let me know

you mean the latest auto root? the MR1 update RUU is prerooted and should contain the superuser app already installed

welcome, good luck

Re: [Auto] Root and Unroot (Windows)**Updated**5/20** w/MR1 updat

It looks like that answers the file question, but unfortunately it still doesn't help with my issue of it continually telling me to pull my battery and restart the program from option 2. Can anyone offer any thoughts/insights here?

Not sure if you saw my reply quote post above.
