Easy Peasy

Big Thank You!!!!!!!!, not only easy but Enjoyable, one click is no fun and the adb was a bit over capacity for me to execute, again thanks, and to all on the fence JUMP IN. Now waiting for my CM Baby!!

EDIT: it was very helpful to have the vista sidebar cpu meter up, it shows the computer working in the background for you, dont freak the batch is copying files.

"I'm starting from the beginning. I guess my computer won't recognize my phone. The msg I am getting is adb is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file

I downloaded the HTC Sync drivers and can connect to it on my PC.

Phone is fully charged, debug mode, stay awake, charge only. Using the USB on the back of my PC.

Running Windows Vista.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I tried the manual root last week. I set up ADB using the video on youtube and it recognized it then. I was having trouble downloading all the files so decided to wait for a more automated process, but like I said, it won't recognize my phone now".

I too am frustrated by this problem and wanted to know if anyone could post how this was resolved? I have rooted both my Eris and Fascinate and did not encounter this problem. My Thunderbolt is having one heck of a time being recognized when I plug it in. FYI, I have used all of the ports on my Dell Studio laptop, and I have not been successful. Thanks in advance for the assistance.

Well, just got home for another try and I am having the same issue again. I can't get my PC to recognize my phone. I'm outta ideas and would love some help! Thanks

Adb server is outdated ..killing: near the beginning of the first step.
Also if I try to open Adb it opens for a split second and disappears.
I had previously installed Adb but could not open it.
Do I need it installed? Should I try to uninstall it?
I had a rooted Eris running GSB CM7, I really liked the improvements, control!

Thank You!

ADB seemed too much for my pea brain to handle :-[ Sooo, looking for an easy way out, I stumbled on this forum.... All I can say is THANK YOU !!!!!!!!!. Even my little brain was able to complete this task with no problems.... :D Beers for everyone on me !!!! Thanks again fellas for another fine job..... P.S. - Had to admit, I was a little nervous during the process, but all is well.... you guys rock !

I'm clicking on Adb.exe , then a black box opens and closes immediately.
It's strange because I ignored the Adb server error because you said there would be a lot of miscellaneous messages. It seemed to get through to the downgrade!? But my computer doesn't like when I unplug my phone. I have to reboot the computer to connect again, then it's difficult to get your short cut method back to the same spot!?
Win XP, I Believe SP 2

Thank you for any suggestions!

adb.exe isnt an application so it doesnt open,
are all the set up stuff done, htc sync, debugging mode, charge only, USB port in the back of the computer

completed the auto root steps successfully, it shows S-OFF but i can NOT install any apps that requiring rooting. i have gone thru this process 2 times. anyone else run into the same problem?

i tried restarting the phone a few times to see if it would help but still no dice. any help would be aprreciated. i have the launch day thunderbolt.

thanks for all your hard work.

re-tried on a different USB port and started the process from step 3. It took that time. Thanks for all the hard work and simplifying the process for us beginners.

so I tried to flash a new radio in one of the other threads and now my phone isn't rooted. At least thats what all the root apps are saying. Hboot still says s-off. Can I just start the autoroot program again from step 1?
