Thank you so much for your efforts. I have spent hours trying to root with a MAC OSX based product manually without success. One round with this program and all went well!
Only warning to users is that the files are so large to download that slopw connections require a lot of time and I have had to download them repeatedly due to corruption and inability to open. Thanks again; root on!

I would appreciate your time. Whenever works for you.

you on?

droidx is the man

Never rooted 1st android 1st root and it went off without a hitch 1st shot i made some dumb changes deleting stuff etc and thinking about rooting it again so i can start fresh since the phone seems to be running a lil funny from deleting programs at will without really checking guess i got power hungry lol, great program bud thank you! But really I only rooted for the battery life and to get bloatware off my phone. I dont need a pretty rom or any other nonsense i wouldnt mind it but the process seems like it can cause more harm than good at times and after doing everything to get it ready to flash and reading others problems and all the stuff added after the fact like radio's etc. decided not to since people that know what their doing seem to be having problems. so i was wondering if you could either recommend a thread or what youve done for battery life and maybe even a few other tweaks to make the bolt fun or look cool, but mainly battery life. The last thing i want to do if constantly have to flash all these new roms every week or day. I just want some stable with the best battery life possible stock is just fine with me but just deleting bloatware didnt do to much for my BL if theres a rom fine ill learn how to do all that nonsense but i saw here that you dont rom and since youve steered me right so far was hoping you had some other tips tricks info etc. btw the community/site is amazing ill be a member and donating to the cause. This thread gave me everything i needed just had to take the time to read it ALL ran into a couple snags but I already knew what to do. ;P

You can change your kernel and use SetCPU... That will help without having to change roms. Check out Kernel Manager from the market. The "Bamf 4.3a" kernel by Adrynalyne is a good choice. It will undervolt your phone while still using the stock speeds of the phone. Another app you will need is SetCpu. Set up profiles for the phones cpu. The biggest one would be to lower the cpu's min & max levels for Screen off. Between using an undervolted kernel and setting up a profile to lower the cpu while the screen is off.... You will see a huge improvment in battery life.

As for an easy way to change the looks of the phone... Have you checked out the 30+ Sense skins: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=801928

Rooting and Unrooting

If I root, uninstall the Bloatware and then unroot.. will all that Bloatware (Bitbop, Blockbuster...) still be gone? And with my Thunderbolt rooted, will I still get Android OS updates OTA?

Yes, the method for unrooting will put the bloat back on the phone. You will most likely need the bloatware back on the phone to receive OTA updates so if you want to stay rooted and receive updates.... Either with Root Explorer... Copy everything to a backup folder before deleting. Read the "How to remove bloat from the Thunderbolt" thread by Cory or use Titanium Backup and freeze the bloat. Either way their will most likely be a leaked update posted on Android Central that you can flash before Verizon even releases anything OTA, so keep anything you remove backed up somewhere. If you want to just stop certain apps from running and showing up on your phone without deleting them... Use Titanium and freeze them.

I will be trying this method later this evening (I'm brand new to rooting). Do I need to get adb or just the autoroot program (in addition to HTC sync)?

Also, should I backup and delete my sd card contents (the stuff I added obviously) or will the autoroot delete all that for me?

Just auto root and htc sync.....leave your sdcard as is

I just rooted.. used My Backup to save everything and put it back on my phone after root (couldn't use Titanium because I wasn't rooted yet) and now my market is all messed up. My apps aren't showing that I already downloaded them and I can't download anything else!!! Any solutions would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Go into application manager , find market clear data and cache...if available uninstall updates....then try again

I tried that. All of my apps say "Download was unsuccessful". Should I start over from scratch?

I can't download ANYTHING from the market. My contacts won't load. How can I reset my phone back to original, unrooted settings??

I just started the root process [edited to remove my dumb question].. just had to swipe after it went black and it's checking for the zip again.. this is exciting!

Anyone? Anything?

it sounds like either you entered the wrong account or something i heard from somone you can go to your account online and reset things . or you can try to unroot and try again although it sounds like the root is the problem it most likley account related

Ok I completed the script (2nd boot loader) and now it looks like I'm back to the HTC setup wizard... is there anything I should NOT select? For example, should I skip the backup assistant or click start?
