Auto Rotate stopped working

This worked for me did all the above g sensor re callibations etc, tried the 6 inch drop, re callibrated , all is good now. Thanks

I won't lie. I threw my phone in anger last night. I don't particularly like auto-rotate because I find it aggravating, so I keep it turned off and didn't notice an issue afterwards; but when I went to use my camera this morning, it was stuck in landscape mode. Then I turned on auto-rotate and discovered that it also wasn't functioning. So, I had to Google like everyone else here lol. I tried the calibration countless times, but the horizontal calibration was stuck to the right and wouldn't calibrate. So I tried dropping the phone on all four corners six inches above the carpet. Still no dice. So then I just dropped it straight on it's back, without the case onto my desk at work from about six inches. Yahtzee! Calibration successful. All is now right with the world again. :)

I followed the steps below which was suggested on this forum and it worked for me.

Simple solution to auto rotate failure - HTC One M9+:
Go to help app
select "tips and help", then "hardware misbehaving",
then select G-sensor test.
test it once , or twice. If it returns failed, from that screen tap on "calibrate g sensors"
having placed your phone on a flat surface. Then do the test again, it will return "pass" and auto rotate will stat working again.

Has this happened to anyone else? I am not sure what happened. It just decided to stop working today.

I also had this issue,in my case the tempered glass was creating this problem,I removed it and bamm..!! It's working...!!
The g sensor is fine don't worry !!

I was honestly really skeptical about this (obviously), but it turned out to be the thing that fixed it finally! Dropped (while supporting it with two fingers all the way down) the phone from the height of about twice the length of the phone itself onto a writing pad (thin carpet would also work). Re-tested, calibrated and it works now!

It Worked it was so simple by dropping it out 6 inches off the ground

Unbelievable ! It works!
I droped it above 25 cm on the table, in horizontal position

before I had a problem: avter fell down dont work autorotate, G sensor X line

/Moto x , 2gen/

Thanks people!

Special Thanks : Google search, androidcentral.com !!!

I' happy! :D

I tried that way, but didn't work, then looking other pages I tried this:

*#*#3424#*#* – Run HTC function test program
The G-Sensor test run did fail with Error

After that, go to Settings, device, then Calibrate G-Sensor.

Finally run the test again, was Succesful this time, and problem was solved.

Dropped my M9 from waist height then did the test and calibration. Works fine here as well. HAHA! WTF.

dropping it!! that is genius! who woulda thunk?! lol. that could be how it screwed up in the first place as i dropped it earlier and then i had this problem (even though i have a good hard case on it). so i googled and came across this post. at first didnt work but then i tried it more forcefully, on the bathroom floor, and now voila! thank u! one phone frustration gone. the stupid battery though...is another story. lol
