ATTN: Mods, this is not regarding software piracy.
I have a technical question, I suppose. A co-worker of mine provided me with FTP access to a directory of APKs that he has served off of his home PC. The purpose was to save me time. I could just drag/drop a bunch of them onto my SD card and install right from there via Astro File Manager - just stuff like Fandango, Twidroid, Weatherbug, etc.
From what I've learned in various forums, though, I understand that these applications that I've installed from APK will not receive automatic updates, specifically because I didn't download them directly from Market.
My question: Is there any way to force these applications to be recognized by Market for automatic updates, or do I need to uninstall them all and then reinstall them via Market directly?
