Automatically Joining WhatsApp Group After Installation?

Hi there,

I need to join a WhatsApp group with class members but didn't have the app installed when the group was created.

After giving the group my phone number I was told that after I installed the app I would be automatically added to the group. I installed when I got home, however, nothing has happened (app installed fine but I don't seem to be in the group).

I'm now not sure if my number was written down incorrectly or if the admin just needs to add me manually and hasn't done so yet (i.e. is it correct that I should have joined the group automatically?).

Unfortunately I do not have anyone's phone number or email address so need to connect through the app.

Any help/info would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure that's possible unless your number was previously associated with Whatsapp. If it was and you just re-installed the app, then have the group try sending a new message now that you're in the group. Old messages that aren't deliverable (numbers that are off or no app installed) are deleted from the servers after some time.

If this is the first time you've used Whatsapp with your number, then they cannot add you until your registration is done (your number won't show up as a valid Whatsapp contact for the group Admin).
