is there away to improve the avialable memory(when checked through a task manager such as task killer) i have with my phone. the overall performance of my phone i greatly increased since rooting and DJ05. i have uninstalled (added .old) to most of the bloatware, but my available memory sits arround 70m's. i have a freind with an unrooted droid x his sits at arround 150m,s. i know its a different phone, but i just thought the hardware specs were about the same.

Are you experiencing any lag? If not, don't worry about it. The OS does a good job of managing processes

No not a lot of lag. Sometimes things can get laggy if I have a lot going on. I am very happy with the rom flash. I was just wondering if there way to do even more.

This is a common thing with the fascinate and i think it has something to do with the way touchwiz utilizes the memory, but that being said the amount of available free memory should not affect the performance of your device. The way android utilizes memory is different from lets say IOS. If you are using a task killer on the fascinate i would suggest to remove it as its not needed and its using resources.

Fascinate has a native task manager if you need to end an do to glitch or bug. but killing your apps does not mean your system will run any smoother. you can reach the native task manager by holding down the home button and a window will open with available apps , just tap task manager and you will be able to end apps,,,,if needed

the way android works is that it will keep several applications open and when you run an app that requires more resources than you have available it will look for the least used open application and close it to make room for the new process. this cycle continues therefor available memory isnt as critical as in other OS.

If you are seeing slight lag, that is do to android cleaning up garbage on its own to keep running smoothly... with Froyo this will be less noticable and with gingerbread even seem gone altogether.

Everyone's on the right page here. It's tough to get out of the habit of "more free is better" but you need to just let the Android OS take care of it on it's own. If you try doing more on top of these background processes, like use another task killer, you're actually using more resources. Those killer apps also end needed system processes, so then the phone needs to work more to start them back up every time you end them. Thus, actually slowing you down more and consuming more battery in the process. As far as the X showing more free, that's because it has more RAM on board.
