Awesome Costco deal!!

Well I am going to be in line to swap my Bionic. BSOD problem ... plus would like a phone without the Verizon and Moto junk in it. Hope Costco allows the exchange for a different phone.

To be 100% clear -

Costco's policy is to allow you 90 days to return or exchange the phone. Period. Not just for the same model.

After 14 days, you will be tied to the plan you signed up for, but not the phone.

Wireless Associates (the ones that run the kiosks in Costco), will try and tell you that the phone can only be exchanged for the same model. This is false. The reason they do this is because they are penalized for returns, and an exchange for a different model counts as that.

One call to WA's central help line will put the WA associate back in their place regarding what the official policy is through WA and Costco corporate. The number is 1-888-369-5931. The manager who helped me when I exchanged the Charge for the Bionic (after about 80 days) is named Linda.

After about a 2 minute phone call with Linda, and her talking to the WA guy for about a minute, my exchange of the Charge for the Bionic was in progress. :)

And Meth - No. I did not have to pay full retail price on the Bionic. It was kept at the same "new subscriber" price.

This is very interesting. So let me get this straight. I could return my bionic and swap it for the nexus? This is very different from what they told me, they said the can't control the contract renewal which is where the 14 days comes from, they claim after 14 days verizon doesn't allow them to retract the contract which would mean no early upgrade price for the replacement phone?

Yes. Although you are still on the Verizon contract, you are still making an exchange on the original purchase, which included your upgrade discount. It is as if you are going back in time and making the purchase of the Nexus when you bought your Bionic. You do have to turn in all the accessories, but you will get a $300 credit, and then will buy the new phone at the same renewal rate. In my case, I returned the Charge which I had purchased at $200, and then I purchased the Bionic bundle at $300, so $100 difference in price.

Do you happen to be going to the Costco in Northridge, California? If so, then leave and never go back.

I tried swapping my Charge for a Bionic there and they flat out wouldn't let me. Got the manager, called the regional manager (didn't know anything) and it was a pain. We missed out on the phone that day after going to 5 different Costcos, all of the others would exchange for the Bionic but they were sold out. Northridge had 2 left and they wouldn't do it even though every other store in LA would.

My advice, even if it isn't Northridge, just go to another Costco.

No I am in New Jersey, but from the sound of how they were when I first asked about this 90 day, they didnt sound as if they were going to help me. I guess I should call support and get it all figured out prior to swapping

After working out the math, it would end up being cheaper for me to sell my bionic and accessories and buying the nexus full retail then replacing in my case. I sold the bedside and navigation dock so I would have to re-buy them to return, factor in the arguing that should happen to even do this deal and hoping Costco has the Nexus in stock. Instead I might just sell my spare battery + battery charger, sell the bionic then just buy the Nexus at full retail. Hopefully its in the $500-600 range and not higher, or everything I said above will be false lmao :'(

Yeah if it's in the $500/600 range I might just sell my Bionic on craigslist anyway. With all of the accessories I should be able to get a good price for it. The only reason I would do this is if I felt it was going to be a hassle on the exchange.

Just a reminder to those who purchased from Costco on launch.. you only have a couple days to get your Price Difference credit... You do the credit at the Customer Service desk, not the Wireless Kiosk.

I went in yesterday and got $59 cash back since the Bionic Bundle is now $229 at Costco..

Another benefit from being a Costco member..

I went in today and the person at the customer service desk required that I have my original receipt, which I didn't have with me, and that they would only give the price difference if the price was lowered within the first 30 days. Does this make sense? If so, I'm thinking that I will now have to return mine and repurchase in order to get the lower price, which is a pain.

you do need your originally receipt... I'm not sure why you would try without the receipt.??

I've never had a problem getting price difference cash back from Costco in the first 90 days.. I've done it on a few things over the years, not just the Bionic..

Get your receipt, go to the customer service desk and ask for the difference back (due to the price drop).. I suppose if you get a problem, say "So I have to return it, then re-buy it to get that price'? Maybe ask for a Supervisor.

I never had to say that.. they just give the difference back though I do admit a Supervisor had to give me my cash back from a main register.. she just said they have to do that for the phones (instead of the customer service desk)..
