Awful signal strength

I'm from Ohio and just recently moved to Delray Beach FL. I bought the Incredible before I moved and the phone was flawless.

Since I've been here for a few days, my signal strength is awful. It's averaging one bar and I get alot of errors when trying to send MMS. Everyone around that I've asked said they have no problems with Verizon's service in this area. My 3G is in and out constantly too.

I've updated the phone with *228 and double checked all the settings I know about with no improvement.

Anyone have any ideas that might help or do I need to maybe get a replacement phone and try that? Just seems kinda odd that it was working perfect in Ohio

This issue has been discussed repeatedly on this and other forums. Don't go by the bars for signal stregth but rather the signal level under network settings. I've found that despite the fact that I normally see only one bar, Im getting the same signal strength as I see on my blackberry. If you're in an area with low strength, don't cover the bottom rear of the phone while using it.

If the above isn't acceptable, go to a Verizon store or call their 800 number and request a return or exchange for a different model phone.

I should have been more clear. I noticed the low number of bars and checked signal strength and it seems to follow the bars.

Also, I don't really car what either number says if the phone works fine but I have having continual issues with MMS. Has to try multiple times to send and receive pics so I attributed this to the signal strength.

HTC has released a statement addressing this issue. Can't remember where I read it but It stated that the signal strength was reduced while it was not being used for data or voice to save battery power. When in a call the signal bars should increase to the signal strength that your area dictates. I guess if your not dropping calls or having audio problems with you call then this shouldnt be an issue.

Whoa...I just tested that theory. When I'm sitting at home idle...I get 0-1 bar. When I make a call it jumps and holds at 3 bars. For the record I haven't had a dropped call anywhere.

Someon I'm another thread said that an htc rep had an explanation for this behavior. The reason the bars jump when placing a call is because the radio comes out of some sort of sleep mode for the duration of the call and returns after the call is ended.

Well it's true that I haven't had any issues while making calls. The only reason I even made this post was I've been having consistent issues with MMS and thought it was related to the signal strength. But it may be another issue.
