So for a good part of the day my evo shift is on my hip and whenever i take a break or go on lunch and check my phone its on fire???

Does it continuously search for signal if there is none?

All my Treos on Sprint (palmOS and WinMo) have done that, so I assume it's true of CDMA phones in general.
