Back to S7

I know. I know. These posts are always awful. Full of people bashing the phone that is the topic of the forum, saying why they hated it and blah blah blah. This one is different though so please, read on.

I am returning my Pixel and picking up a S7 Edge once again. Why? Well for starters I switched from Verizon back to AT&T because Verizon was awful in my area. 2 bars or less everywhere, no service at my work which is the worst part and less than 1mbps downloads almost everywhere I went. I know the Pixel is unlocked and I could easily use it on AT&T but I got a hell of a deal on the S7E. So why am I switching despite the Pixels obvious advantages in speed, processing power, perceived camera advantages and unlimited photo storage. Two reasons mostly but one maybe reason as well.

1) The S7E is water resistant and the Pixel is not as much. This is a big deal to me with a daughter who likes to ruin things with water. I like the peace of mind and sadly the Pixel didn't offer it.

2) The Pixel camera was, to me, a huge disappointment. The video camera was not good, the pictures I took were always blurry which I had not seen in a high end phone camera in years, and I had the dreaded halo in a ton of shots. The S7 camera has yet to let me down.

3ish) I have the Gear S3 and love the functionality of it in conjunction with a Samsung phone. I can also upgrade to the S8 fairly easily so that's a plus as well.

The Pixel was a fantastic phone. I screamed through every task I gave it, never stuttered, and in general had no issues besides the above personal issues and the speaker crackling on loud. I know some of you will disagree or pretty much hate this post but I wanted to share my experience for those of you considering switching.
I thought that you can activate the Pixel on any provider by just adding the sim card of the provider. This is what I read somewhere is this true. I have a great signal strength on Verizon.

I'm going back to the Pixel from the S7. I can't stand the lack of updates and I think the Pixel has a better camera, except for no OIS (which I don't notice). Only problem, I hate the Gmail app for email. Any other suggestions? I like a clean look and I don't mind Samsung's native email app.

Yes it works with everything.

I use Blackberry Hub. Works great.

Why didn't you bring the Pixel over to AT&T?

Do you have the XL or regular size?

Same here. I'm starting to really not like the Samsung brand. I have a Samsung washer that was recalled and fixed, but just 5 minutes ago heard on the news that the fix may not work and the lid of the washer can still explode. Wait didn't another Samsung product explode??? People are suing Samsung like crazy with these dangerous washers in our homes now. Making me think to start being anti Samsung for all of this crap.

Yeah, my trust in Samsung has dwindled over the last year from the Note 7 and Samsung washers. Plus, our Samsung refrigerator's automatic ice maker died this past week after just 4 years of use. Now I have to pay to get it fixed since it's out of warranty.

Wow that is crazy. I think I heard there were issues with their fridges too. I got a gear VR and you can't even use it longer than 45 min BC of how hot the phone gets...Just not very safe to me.

I feel you about Samsung's brand. I had an S7 and it was good at the beginning but then it started being weird on me. Maybe because I didn't want to restore it and may have fix all the minor issues I have. I didn't like the fact that it was always heating up and unstable and stutters as well. I feel like I am constantly troubleshooting it and questioning its ability. Its supposed to be one of the premium phone and I expected the best. Fortunately I found a Pixel 128 on Craigslist and never even look back and not consider it once or missed at all. Also, I tried their iCon X and that was good at the beginning and again I was let down by that. I am glad though that I didn't give up completely with their brand and end it up with Gear S3. I think Samsung really out done themselves on this one. I couldn't be more happier. Moral to the story, dont give up on a brand just because of their past history. Try it and if you are not happy with it, just return it or sell it.

What makes it so hard for me is that I haven't had any issues with the S7. I have the gear s2, got my husband the s3 and they are both incredible smartwatches. Do you have the pixel XL or regular? I had the XL and couldn't handle the size (felt so bulky), comparing to the slimness and awesome form factor on the S7 edge.

I have the regular pixel now and love the size, just feel like I'm giving up those premium features on the S7 that lack on the pixel. The timely updates and buttery smooth user experience keep me coming back to the pixel though. I activate the S7 for a week go back to the pixel for a week...It's never-ending. Resetting my gear s2 is fun too each time I switch

The fridge has been awesome, until now. The repair guy said that it's just a bad design, and that they will all break at some point in time due to the way it works. I'm really not giving up on the brand, but they have had their major share of issues this last year. I have a Gear S2 on the way to go along with my Pixel. And I'm probably going to get the Samsung Chromebook Pro once I can actually order one. So it's not like I hate the brand. But it definitely has opened my eyes to some of their issues. And to be fair, every company has issues. Even the almighty Apple has some pretty serious issues.

Yes I completely hear where you are coming from. I got the gear s2 classic on black Friday and it's really impressed me so far. It obviously works better on the s7 (with their default messaging app) but it works flawlessly with the pixel. I just find the two Samsung issued to be extremely serious ones and it just worries me down the road with them.

Yes I do have the regular Pixel 128. I had the XL but it was only 32gb and it was just not as easy to handle. I don't blame you about going back and forth. Maybe sell the S7 so you don't have any choice going back to it. It will lessen your option. I just want something that works when I need to do something and Pixel benefits my needs for that.

Knock on wood..I haven't had a single issue with a single Samsung electronic device and I have a lot of them. The Note 7 issue, I think, can be traced to them being a little over ambitious with regards to stuffing in as big of a battery as they could while keeping the device as thin as possible. That was the best device I believe I have ever used. Their TVs and washers/dryers have been great for my family and I. I will continue to buy their products and surprisingly feel more confident after the Note 7 fiasco. This event should have been a big eye opener for them and one would think that they will have the most stringent testing and quality control methods of any manufacturer in the industry.

My Samsung washing machine had the recall, but they'll send someone to fix it for free
