I know how to perform both. This is what I need help understanding.

If I back up my phone to my Google account that saves my data, settings contacts etc etc.
If there is malware or anything bad in my phone... Does it stay on the phone or will I inadvertantly transfer it in the back up.?

Google one said NO it is protected.
If this is on fact true then I should be able to restore the back up onto the phone AFTER I perform a factory reset. And I should not have any issues with having transferred anything bad back into my phone.

Does this sound correct?

Basically means anything bad in the phone is just that... In the phone! And NOT in my data. Correct?
Thank you

If there is a virus it should be sandboxed in the OS. The reset should clear anything that is malevolent. I have heard of some viri that can get that deep into the OS and a reset may not clear it, but I personally think that a reset is the first thing to try to eliminate it.

You'll need Google backup and Samsung account back up to transfer everything back but what's the reason?

If you're asking him what the two viruses are he found and researched via PDP > Google, he hasn't answered that question asked three times previously already.

Because I couldn't find the one. It's disappeared. The other was a bad app from Verizon. Their digital secure app is what was causing my screen glitches and some of the connection issues.

The reason you were not answered right away is due to my short experience here on this site. Seems many are quick to make assumptions and poke fun. And until I could give you what you were asking for I opted to not say anything. Just saving the jerks a good time is all.

What I can tell you about the other one is it was a type of tracing app. Traces what you do and what sites you visit and shares that info with other 3rd party "vendors" I'm not sure what they actually called them, but they sell your info to these other people. It did not show up in the apps list. And was not detected by Kaspersky (which came pre installed on my phone), which doesn't surprise me. Last year having issues with my note 20 I had taken it to ubreakifix (multiple times unfortunately) and we discovered that many of the issues I was having were being reported as having something to do with kaspersky. So it is absolutely true that pre installed apps cause major problems. I never use the default browser, I delete it. And use chrome or duck duck go.
Anyway off subject kind of...
If I think of it it come up with the actual name I will definitely share it with you. My apologies. I've just been doing so many resets and deleting things and on the phone with Samsung who didn't help and made it worse it's just been a nightmare the past few days so my apologies.
FYI to whomever said HE hasn't answered ... I'm actually a female! Lol... No biggie, no way to tell without an actual photo
thank you

You originally said you found through researching via Google each app suggestion in PDP that you had 2 viruses. A Verizon app that may have been causing problems isn't a virus.

Digital Secure is a preinstalled Verizon app that many would consider bloatware (I did when I had a Verizon branded phone), but it is not a virus or form of malware.

Any questions on apps you have issues with or think are problem let us know we can help you determine if they are a issue or can be disabled.

Something that occurred to me as I read this: some garbage apps are integrated in the OS and cannot be removed (the last I knew). Verizon stock apps are an example. If one of these apps are causing the problem there may be a way to address it, but informing us of the actual app (if that is what the problem is), is helpful.

I misspoke. And still can't give the name of the virus. But it was one I believe I was carrying around for 18 plus months.

Just trying to find out which one is causing my screen to glitch. No Samsung swears it's an app that's doing it.
Thanks

If I knew which apps were causing the problem I delete them and I'd be on my way but I can't seem to figure out which ones are doing it I have just the normal apps like everybody else no third-party no things that I don't actually use so I can't really figure out which one it is that's the problem everybody says go in safe mode will you go in safe mode you can't even use your internet so I mean how am I supposed to know that doesn't help me any so I I can't help you help me cuz I don't really know how to do all this it doesn't make sense to me I don't know how to figure out what job it is I don't know how to tell you which app it is cuz I don't know I'm willing to take any suggestions

Even though this is tedious, but going into the apps list in Settings, then force stopping one by one?

Fastest way is put phone in safe mode this turns all 3rd party apps and see if screen continues to glitch, if it doesn't then spend time delete 3rd party apps one by one if it's same then try factory reset.

I did inform the forum. I mentioned VERIZON DIGITAL SECURE APP. Which is known too give problems and considered bloatware. Which I did not realize Tim a could few days ago. Sorry if it was missed.

Did you transfer your data from your previous phone when you got this one? Sometimes the transfer will glitch and cause issues on some apps. It's still worth it in my opinion to not have to install everything freshm but it is a risk.

The first thing I'd suggest is to go into your phone settings and go to Battery. Look and see if any of your apps seem to be using unexpectedly high percentages of juice. This is a tell-tale sign of a misbehaving app in many cases. If your not sure if the percentasges look reasonable, post a screenshot and we'll help you.

If there is an app that's too high in battery use, uninstall it and reinstall it. If it's a system app that you can't uninstall, then uninstall updates (Settings > Apps > [the battery chugging app]> 3 dots in upper right corner) and then reinstall update to the current version.
