Background Android OS data

On my HOX and a few others that i have seen from my customers and a few of my co workers, we have noticed that the Android OS uses alot of data in the background. It has not been on all of them, but for the life of me i cannot figure out what is causing it. I have already factory reset my phone to try and see if that does it, and within a few days with mobile data turned off most of the time, it already has done half a gig in the background. What would be causing this?

bump , my phone just used 1.8GB of data in about 7 days this is ridiculous

Download my data manager from the market. Awesome, free app and it will tell you.

That is pretty high.

The picture from your co-worker's phone shows a a whole month of usage.
Even that is high. Mine used 34 meg in the background over a month.

If you say yours is using 1.8 GIG in 7 days that' is pretty high.

The OS usually doesn't accumulate that much data, even sitting on wifi, so it must be trying to
download something. You ONLY install from the market right? No dodgy web sites?

I've been told that if an developer makes a mistake the usage their app uses can be attributed to the OS instead of the app itself.

Drag the slider all the way to the right and it will tally up usage for the entire month.

See yours is normal and what I would expect to be used. But upwards of a gb and a half is outrageously high imo.

I have had my mobile network data turned off. My billing cycle just restarted today, how have i used over 60mb of data with it shut off already?
