Background media players no longer work!

Hi all. Wondering if you can help me with my S4. Since roughly the 4.3 upgrade, media players like Freedi and PVstar+ won't run in the background and stop on minimizing just like the main YouTube app. This is new (and maddening) behavior. Anyone know why this is and conquered it? These same programs work fine on my 4.4 upgraded nexus 7...

Again, can anyone help here? No media player (FreeDI, etc) that can play music in the background in my tablet will do this on my S4. All stop immediately when minimizing or hitting "back." Any idea why? It's not a storage issue... I have like 7 GB free. This is driving me nuts. Any ideas?

Try clearing the caches of your players, uninstall and reinstall.
