Background processes don't seem to be all working

Hi, I just got my Note 4 yesterday, and there seems to be something amiss with some of the background processes. The weather widget on the home screen for one doesn't seem to update the weather as it should even when I have it selected for it to update every hour. I'm also not getting push notifications from my TheScore app so far. Have not yet gotten app update notifications from google play either. I am however getting notifications from Instagram, facebook, and mail. Could this be a system thing or something to do with the individual apps?
