I have a Samsung GSII i777. Been all over the internet trying to figure out how to do this. I can connect phone with pc via usb cable and can transfer pictures, ringtones, music, but don't see anything remotely having to do with phone contacts. How can I do this?

Go into the contacts app, export your contacts to a file, and copy the file to your PC. All your contacts should be automatically backed up to your Google account too.

they dont automatically backup unless you set up the sync in settings.

but yeah like mviglesias57 said, open contacts up then hit them menu button and hit export to sd, this will create a file on your sd card , just drag and drop that onto your pc and you are done.

I never set up anything to sync mine and they're backed up to my Google account. When I installed JellyBean I had to do a full wipe and they contacts were downloaded after I entered my Google account info in the initial setup.

when you initially set up the phone there is a sync option that not everyone opts into . i have seen alot of people over the years that did not have it set up and reset and lost their contacts.
