What's the best/easiest way to backup/restore my device for the Oreo update? My LGs had the LG Backup utility which was simple, but obviously that's not an option now. I hate doing the Factory Data Reset and having to set up all my accounts again, have my device authorized for work, etc. I'd also like to not lose all my sms messages.

The built in Google backup should restore pretty much everything (except maybe for the SMS). For SMS I would install SMS Backup+

It will backup and restore all of your SMS and call history, then you can restore after your reset.

If you use 2FA and Google Authenticator, download and use Authy instead. It will backup your keys so you don't have to redo all of those.

SMS is now backed up too. if you go to settings-->system-->backup (Android Oreo settings)and scroll down you will see SMS as a backup.

when i formatted it last time on Android O DP4 i got all my sms back without needing to back it up.

Although i am not sure if SMS is still backed up on Android Nougat. There used to be a bug in play service which did not backup SMS on Nougat. I am not sure if thats fixed as well.
to confirm if SMS is backed up go to backup in settings on Nougat.

if it says attempting to backup under SMS then the bug is not fixed else you will get all ur sms on restore
