I am rooted and have ROM Manager 2.5.0.7 installed. I downloaded Skyraider 3.3 and tried to install via ROM Manager. All seemingly worked well, I got the dancing Android in boot mode, Skyraider flash screen and then start up screen, followed by setup options/ language select. The unit then froze and I got a flash message about ROM manager stopped working and to force close. The machine then rebooted with the exact sequence. Fortunately I was able to boot into recovery mode and restore my backed up stock ROM. For a moment I thought I had a brick if not for the backup. Anyhow, I don't want to repeat this error and am looking for an explanation and fix.
Thanks.

It sounds like you didn't get a complete download. Have you checked xda skyraider thread to see if anyone else has had the issue?

IF it happens again, do a battery pull and try powering up.

Did you wipe data and cache?

Like posted above most times if you don't wipe your data and cache you won't get a clean install of your new Rom. As long as you have you backup just try it again maybe it was just a bad download.

Thanks for the help. Fortunately my stock ROM restored from the backup. I did select the wipe data and cache option from ROM manager. I didn't know if it was an issue with ROM manager or the ROM itself as the message stated ROM manager was forcing a close. Will redownload and reattempt when I can afford the downtime.

I have ran just about every version of Skyraider put out in the last 6 months or so. I have never had any issues. I did have one issue once with a CM, but as it turns out, I was not getting the best signal at the time and got a bad download. I have since re-downloaded the said ROM and it ran as advertised. Please do not loose confidence in our chefs, they are worthy of our praise and support!

sometimes i've noticed doing a new rom thru the rom manager app doesn't wipe everything completely. when i tried out muiu the other day i got FC's right off the bat, but a reboot into recovery and doing it that way and making sure i wiped dalvik fixed all the probs i was having.

I had a bad experience with Skyraider as well. 3.3.3 Downloaded with Rom manager, loaded it and it was fine. Turned the phone off at night to charge. Turned on in the morning and when it loaded up, a force close notification popped up for every application. I was no longer able to run titanium, Rom manager, or about half the other apps. Force close just kept popping up. I wiped and restored my back up. I tried redownloading again, and the exact same thing happened. Again, after I powered off the phone. Haven't tried any other ROM's since then.

I don't trust ROM downloads over the phone. Color me old fashioned, but I download on the PC then copy the file to the phone before I flash.

The standard advice to clear the data, dalvik cache and battery stats remain.

Sounds like we both have a case of PTSD from bad ROM flashes. I'm inclined to try again when I have half a day free.
