This past hour, I've tried to reach two different public customer service entities.

Both occasions, at one point in the conversation, they said they couldn't hear me; while I tried to say I could hear them clearly.

Is this a 4G LTE T-Mobile thing (So. Cal.)?

Should I be considering 5G?

Do you have WiFi calling? If so, have you had any call-quality issues while using it?
 
Did you have other problems calling other people while in the same area? First guess would be a problem with the network or local signal at the time of the call.

I do have WiFi calling. I was also using a BT headset. When one CSR said she couldn't hear me, I put away my headset and spoke into my phone. Then soon, she said I was cutting in and out... until she definitely couldn't hear me on her end, while I could hear her perfectly well.
 
Use Twitter for Tmobile Customer Service. I've had many issues resolved there
