Phone will no longer register at all or charge with the included cable. Another cable I have here works fine, but is much too short. Any idea if Motorola will warranty it? I know it's only a cable but it shouldn't fail that quickly. Just strange, I've never had a USB cable go bad before.

USB cables can go bad without cutting the wire, or breaking the connectors? Same here. Never had a USB cable fail on me, just the port where the cable plugs in at. I would call Motorola and find out if that is covered under warranty.

I know this doesn't really solve your problem, but I when I get a new phone, I usually buy an extra USB cable that is significantly longer than the one that is provided. It seems that device manufacturers are including shorter and shorter cables, which become impractical if you want to charge the device and still use it, say on the couch or in bed. I bought a 6 foot USB cable for my Maxx when I first got it, and it cost around $6, if I remember correctly.

If it were me I'd at least send Moto Support an email. But buy another one regardless.
