BAMF Gingerbread camera audio

So far I've only tried 2 GB roms, and they're both based off of BAMF 2.0, but the audio when recording a video is awful. It sounds really over modulated, even when the sound is far away from the mic. Anybody else have this issue? Is there a fix for it?

I'm having this same problem. Running BAMF remix 2.1 and also tried the Sense 3.0 RC3. All have had the same issue. Think it may be a problem with the Sense 3.0 camera. Need some advice as well.

I'm getting the same results with BAMF Remix 2.1 as well. I recorded a video at my son's birthday party and the audio is unbearable to say the least. Hoping there's a patch being developed that'll help or an updated ROM, etc.

Just flashed the 2.1 camera and it's still doing the hissing noise. Very annoying as I use my camcorder all the time. Anyone have a fix?

Ok, just spent a little time over at irc.andirc.net #thunderbolt and it turns out it's just a kernel/GB leak issue that we're going to have to live with until the next release. It was suggested to go to /system/media/audio/ui and change VideoRecord.ogg to Video_Record.ogg, but that didn't work for me. Anybody want to try it and see if they get better results?

Thanks for the suggestion from the IRC. Unfortunately, I have the same results as you. No improvement after the rename... We may have to just wait until a "better" leak pops up. Wish I were a coder...

If we're to believe that GB is rolling out by the end of the month, then we shouldn't have to wait long for a stable release. I know the BAMF crew will be all over it as soon as it's out, so I'm not worried. I just really wish I had better audio for when I'm out of the house and my kids do something adorable/hilarious/awesome.

Totally agree. Improvements are surely happening in leaps and bounds lately. For us to wait, is a small price to pay for an ideal release!

I believe with current releases the camera is ok. It works well for me. The problem we're experiencing is with the video recording. The audio quality within videos is poor and sounds like the everything's in a tin can.

OC'ing to 1.4 was suggested to fix the lag issue on the camera (photographs) in which the screen was laggy/jumping and wasn't fluid while moving the camera from subject to subject.

Hey, just thought I'd let you guys know, the latest Gingeritis 3D build ([ROM] [MikRoms] Gingeritis 3D v1.0 Alpha Test Build 11 [6-27-11] - xda-developers) has perfect audio on the camera. It's also got the 3D scrolling widgets and carousel style home screens that Sense 3.0 has, which is pretty awesome. You sacrifice the 5 icon app drawer, but I can live with that in exchange for a functioning camcorder (I suppose).

Nice but I'm loving the 5 app drawer. I'm gonna wait out the official GB release in hopes that it will fix the issue.

That's a safe bet for now. I miss the custom launcher skin that BAMF Remix 2.1 has, I hadn't seen the stock Sense launcher since my first week owning the phone.
