i messed around with the settings and cant seem to get it back to ideal settings on setcpu....what seems to be the best settings to improve battery life but still have speedy response?

The kernel is already optimized. SetCpu is used mainly to overclock. Just autodetect with ondemand, and set on boot.

You can go to settings, apps, and clear data for setcpu. Then reboot and autodect frequency with set cpu, and u prolly want 1036 max 256 min (standard settings). You can test lower max settings or profiles for potential increases in battery life.

What about setting profiles when screen is off? What numbers are good to use? I currently am running leankernel at 1.4GHz. Want to make my battery last longer if i can.

different phones accept different settings. it also depends what you want to do while screen is off (sometimes i use gps and play music while screen is off so i need higher max frequencies). middle ground is like 600 or 700 so you could start there and try going lower or higher and see how your phone performs.
