Band 12?

When the phone was announced last week, it included Band 12 support. Looking at the specs for the GSM model, it no longer shows Band 12. As a T-Mobile customer, this is not a good thing at all!

Last week...

Cellular (GSM XT1540) GSM 850, 900, 1800, 1900MHz
HSPA+ 850, 1700/AWS, 1900, 2100MHz
LTE Band 2/4/5/7/12/17
Micro SIM

Currently

Moto G - GSM (XT1540)
LTE (2, 4, 5, 7, 17)
UMTS/HSPA+ (850, 1700/AWS, 1900, 2100 MHz)
GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)

Anybody have any insight? The Moto X Style still shows Band 12 support.

Could be an issue of international model vs US GSM model like last generation.

Also remember, we aren't getting the Moto X Style here either. If the Pure Edition has band 12 then we're all good.

From what I've read T-mobile has asked phone manufacturers to disable band 12 on phones that lack VoLTE as without it you can have issues where your phone has full bars but you can't make a call. Unfortunately for whatever reason Motorola has not included VoLTE support in either the new Moto G or E and thus disabled it. It's annoying to say the least to punish many for the sake of a few but I get where they are coming from. Also it's not like Motorola couldn't have gotten VoLTE support working. I imagine with their flagship Moto X they will have VoLTE working so band 12 will be enabled.

That is unfortunate. I was thinking of buying one for my daughter who is a college student in New York City. Lack of Band 12 probably won't make a difference right now, but it makes me hesitant to buy a phone that is not quite as "future proof" as was originally thought to be.

I guess if there is any bright side the phone is capable of band 12 so if Motorola was to enable VoLTE they could turn it on. Of course none of that means it will ever happen.

Hopefully T-Mobile will make their Wi-Fi calling and VoLTE easier to implement on non T-Mobile phones at some point.

I'm eying the Moto X Pure for myself...hopefully it will be supported similar to the Nexus 6 is with T-Mobile.
