Battery Bellying

When I had my Galaxy Note 2 and my Galaxy Note 4, I always had a problem with the battery bellying. All of a sudden one of my v20 batteries doesn't fit anymore and the cover doesn't close. So I took out the battery and I felt a little belly and I spun it on the table and it spun beautifully.

I've always had lots of batteries and I used battery chargers to charge them. I haven't been using it, the battery charger, for my v20 batteries until recently. and I'm wondering if some of these battery charges can cause the batteries to get too hot and belly in the center. Have any of you had any of that kind of problem?

Hey man I don't know much about this, but, my GF had an iPhone 6s that did have that problem in fact the the screen also bulged out in on area.

This was replaced after endless hassle with Sprint.

Long story short I believe this is a major problem you have, dangerous in fact. Sprint said that over-charging caused the problem.

After many years of experience I only buy spare batteries from the manufacturer and only use their chargers. Cheap stuff on eBay are usually inferior knock offs and dangerous now.

Long story short I believe this is a major problem you have, dangerous in fact. Sprint said that over-charging caused the problem.

Over charging is one possibility, but that would mean a defect in the charging system or battery. For multiple batteries to swell in the same device, I wouldn't rule this out. A normally functioning phone charger will not over charge the battery.

Because the OP had this happen on 3 different phones and multiple different batteries, I suspect it's user error. Getting the battery too hot and deep discharging it are also causes of a battery to swell. Li-ion's like a happy medium. Not to hot, and not too cold. Not fully charged and not deeply discharged (between 40-80% is the usual recommended range).
