Battery drain making me crazy

hey check your data plan unlimited isnt really unlimited just dont go voer your allowence

I double checked when I left the BB for the Atrix. I've been with AT&T for about 3 years with unlimited data. I called AT&T to confirm my unlimited data was in place after the switch and they confirmed it. I'm not capped, which is the only reason I'm staying with AT&T.

Honestly, I'd recommend to stop using that task manager to kill your apps. As someone else said in the beginning of this thread, some are meant to stay on and will continuously reload which crushes your battery more (you're killing it and causing it to restart itself every time). I don't expect this to magically solve your problem, but it's just something I noticed someone mentioned earlier, and your replies seem to still hint at the fact that you're still killing the apps that come with the phone (like the stock messaging app, voice, etc). I hope it helps at least a little bit. :\

As for the cycling thing, li-on batteries don't need to be cycled, and actually it does more harm to your battery's longevity than good. However, it seems like only ~5% of the internet population is aware of this, so everyone spreads the wrong info around, unfortunately.

How to Prolong Lithium-based Batteries – Battery University

"Capacity drop as part of cycling. A pool of new 1500mA Li-ionbatteries for smart phone istested on a Cadex C7400 battery analyzer. All 11 pouch packs show a starting capacity of 88?94 percent and decrease in capacity to 73?84 percent after 250 full discharge cycles (2010)."

I double checked the apps I killed and all but 2 aren't running. I can live with just 2 running. Thanks for reminding me about that. Some apps run no matter what. I read somewhere in the forum to take the battery down to 10% or so and then charge it back up. That's what I thought cycling the battery was. I also read in the forum that taking the battery down to 0 doesn't help it and even might make it worse, so I didn't do that. Did I do this wrong?

Maybe his plan is grandfathered... if thats the case i envy him... lol

I was grandfathered in. No other reason to stay with AT&T. lol Sheesh, I picked the wrong username. Everyone thinks I'm a he. I'm a she! lol

How is the reception where you live/work? When your phone loses a connection it constantly searches for a tower until it requires a signal. This murders your battery.

Go to the battery statistics and look at cell stand by. See what percentage you are without a signal.

It's at 12% right now. I'll check it tomorrow when I'm out and about. I never thought of this! I am continuously losing calls. What I don't understand is, why didn't this happen with my BB? I'm on the same network, I've only changed phones.

12% is very high. I have noticed the effects when it's as low as 2%. I bet that's what's killing your battery.

Try switching over to airplane mode when you don't need to make a call for a day. If your battery life goes way up you've probably found your problem.

As for how to fix it: ATT sells micro towers for your home/office. It will improve your reception and help with battery life in your case.

I've never used a BB, but my guess is there is a difference in the radio scanning configuration.
