Battery Drain Question

First off, I have a ton of apps. I have many emails that sync frequently. I have my phone to check facebook and twitter as often as possible. So, I recognize that I am a heavy user. I'm not looking for all day long battery usage. I know it's just not going to happen.

All that being said, at home, using my wifi network, my phone will make it anywhere from 6-8 hours on a charge. And, I'm ok with that.

It is when I leave the house that things fall apart. I have season football tickets. I will leave my car on the way to the stadium with a full charge. Within a couple hours my phone is dead. And, that is if I don't use it A LOT! If I use it a bunch, it is drained in an hour.

Does anyone know why this happens? And, are there things I can do to control it? I've searched the forums before posting this. I know to turn off my blue tooth and wifi. I don't have any task or app killers running. Just gingerbread, unrooted and a whole bunch of apps.

Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions. :)

Really just a matter of self discipline. If you want your battery life to last you'll have to turn off automatic updates and check them periodically on your own. Also I wouldn't recommend a app killer, but an app manager may be worth looking into. The sad truth is the battery on the Inspire sucks. You just have to learn to manage it better and hey. It's better than a Thunderbolt.

Thanks for the reply. But, the battery, in general, sucking is not my problem. I know the battery sucks. But, why is there a HUGE difference when I'm away from home vs. at home. I probably actually use it more at home than on the road. But, once I'm away from home, the battery is gone. I mean like lightning gone! Even if I just have it with the screen turned off in my pocket. That is what is confusing me.

First off, when not specifically at home you should turn off wifi. This keeps it from searching constantly. Second, turn off background syncing for all apps unless you HAVE to have them.

If you don't have Quick Settings (in the Market), get it. It's a must-have app in my book. QS will make it easy to turn apps on and off on-the-fly.

The wifi radio uses far less power than the you mobile radio. Also, the signal strength of the wifi in your house is probably very consistent, so your phone doesn't constantly have to adjust it's radio settings to balance signal vs. power drain.

Even with that, it seems like your battery is pretty weak. I go 10+ hours at the office and I'm usually at about 45% charge when I get back in my truck. That's on mobile radio the entire time. I'd suggest one of two things. Hit fleebay and get another battery and external charger. Powerskin makes a cover/case that has an external battery in it that about doubles your battery capacity. Fleebay is going to be cheaper though. It's a pain to carry an extra battery unless you've got a bag to carry it in, but that's what I did with my EVO and I'm doing with my Inspire.

Turn off auto syncing (under settings/accounts & sync), and make sure non-mobile data stuff is turned off (Bluetooth, GPS, WiFi, Hotspot).
If that isn't enough, you can turn on airplane mode when you don't need data/phone to be turned on.

Regarding Quick settings to turn stuff off, you can pull down the notifications then goto settings to control them.

My phone has been unplugged since 6:20 am this morning and my battery is at 75%. I have not used my phone a lot, but I have used it some. It's 5:48 pm, CT, now.

Either:

1. The OP is lying
2. The OP really doesn't turn off the radios like he says he does.
3. He has brightness at 100 and no screen timeout
4. Malicious app.
