Battery Drain Ridiculous Epic 4G

Drunk posting ftw.

Im also in the process of calibrating my battery and see if I can get more life out of it. My Hero could go for a long time without a charge thanks to Collins Tweak, hopefully the Epic will follow in the same steps.

I'm trying out phoenix kernel to see how much that helps... accidently got rid of the boot annimation in the process... oops.

Does rebooting into Clockwork Recovery mean it would reboot into the backup I made with CWM? Reason I ask is because the only "profile" I saved was Default - which I made before I debloated. Would I need to create a new profile so it'd have all of my debloating included in it before I rebooted and tried to calibrate?

Sorry if that was incoherent. I'm pretty new at this, so if someone could help me out.. definitely want better battery life!

3rd update time!

I reinstalled a couple of apps.. and got a 6-7% battery drain per hour again.

Weird thing is it kept saying voice calls as 42% battery usage when I talked on the phone for 3 minutes..

Soo I went on uninstalling apps and disabling widgets, and I finally believe I have found the source of my battery drain...

*drumroll*

The Mixzing Large Artwork widget.

I don't know why, or how. But when I removed this widget.. the drain went from 7-8% at idle to 2-3%

Just thought I'd like to share in case anyone else had this problem.

I'm having pretty bad issues with my battery life as well. I've done everything mentioned to improve it but so far, nothing. Radio Shack switched my batteries when I first got the phone but it's still the same. At this point, i'm frustrated and i'm trying to figure out what my next move is going to be.

Have you tried doing a factory reset?

Also make sure you don't have too many apps polling too often.. I personally just let two apps poll..

I don't know how all of you guys are getting battery life that is this bad... my phone will lost upwards of 36 hours plus ( I made it 48 once) depending on use.

I would say my battery life is excellent.

I use my phone as a podcast and music player. If i don't do either of those things it can easily last all day, but if I do either these (especially podcasts) it will day within 4 to 5 hours time. Its just the nature of the beast I guess. Its dissapointing that it won't last longer, but its not too hard to keep it charging and I have the extra battery just in case.

I can get my phone to last 36 hours also. All I have to do is not touch it and turn off all data....If I do that and not text or make phone calls, I can keep it on for two days! don't use phone Problem solved,

Good to hear that your found your culprit. Basically the steps from the Battery Life Tips and Tricks are to go back to the beginning and start adding things until you find your problem.

One key thing. How did you set up JuiceDefender? Does it power everything down over night? If so, this still seems like too much drain.

Are you using the other JuiceDefender features to turn off 4G/3G when using WiFi and to turn off WiFi when not in range, etc.?

It still sounds like you are drawing too much daytime power...

Well I decided to not use juice defender anymore when I did the drain test overnight, and like I said, forgot the airplane mode trick, so when I woke up the time without signal was at 50%.

But when I DID have it set up, I set to to just turn off data from 2am to 8am. And turn off data when screen off.

But since then it's been great, got rid of Mixzing and decided to stick with double twist, just wish there was a pretty giant music player widget for it.

I also turned sync back on, and all the fun stuff, so I can actually have FUN with my phone now.

I'd say it's doing pretty well. No more real battery drain. Been using the phone off and on most of the day. Browser, texting, IMing, Talked on the phone for an hour, all with 4G on and I've gotten 9 hours and 26 minutes of use so far with 45% battery remaining.

It's really odd that the Mixzing large artwork drained my battery so much. Anyone else have this problem?

i know it's an old post, but i have a calibration question..went to syndicate rom with xtreme kernel battery life was worse than stock, so i saw i had to calibrate

well after charging and wiping stats, battery was at 50 percent but phone froze up and had to reboot...upon rebooting, battery was down to 15 percent

do i have to charge and rewipe stats? kinda annoying if i have to
