Battery Drain while in Standby

Thanks. I guess I got scared by some people's issues with the phone and the difference between it and the iPhone.

Happy to help (or provide another opinion, at the least :D)
Welcome to the forum. I am learning here everyday. I knew that going with an Android device there'd be a bit of a learning curve, but that the rewards would be sweet (in terms of getting my phone to do exactly what I want it to do). ... I am getting there!

Ya it doesn't compare to my iPhone 4, but I would take this phone over it easily. Once I get my battery issues completly resolved I will be a happy camper. I know it can be because my first week I was perfectly fine with it. So far so good since removing those apps.

Just wanted to update as to what was causing my battery drain issues. It was screenshot it with the shake phone for screenshot feature enabled. I have widget locker enabled and all is fine. I emailed developer regarding screenshot it and he confirmed with the shake feature enabled the phone has to constantly monitor your phone for shaking which hurts battery life. Yesterday with screenshot it deleted and widget locker on I got awesome battery. I took off charger about 3:45am and when I went to bed at 9:45pm I still had 29% battery. That is with light to moderate usage IMO. That's actually up there with what I got with my iPhone 4.

Awesome! Glad you figured it out. Yeah, I can see how ShootMe (or a similar app) could cause massive B-drain. Per recommendations on AC, I run Widget Locker 24-7 and haven't noticed anything amiss either. I have cycled my phone a total of 7 times (!) and I think that has helped condition the battery as well.

i'm getting about 10.5 hours of total battery out of my phone on what i would consider moderate use. i have not rooted the phone, or installed the screenshot app that many people above talked about. nor do i have widget locker. the phone just doesn't seem to have an outstanding battery. i was expecting to be able to get at least a full day (what i'd consider 12-14 hours) on moderate to heavy use, and i'm barely getting 10.5 on very moderate-light use while turning off wifi, dimming the screen all the way, etc. i have had the phone about 10 days but am just now conditioning the battery.... did i mess something up? should i trade this one in for a new infuse since i am within AT&T's 30 day policy? help

Your best bet is to just get another oem battery off of ebay. It doesnt matter if you get a new phone, the battery life will still be about the same. Its a big battery, but the Infuse is a battery hog. If Samsung would make an OEM battery like the size of the Atrix with its 1930mAh I would be satisfied. But until then, Your better off buying another battery with an external charger and keeping 2 on hand. Its just the way it has to be I believe.

Was Merlin8000's Beatles bit inspired by Scottyb's message just before it, in came close to "he blew his mind out in a car"?

No, that was just because I pulled the phone from the charger right after I woke up, and that's just what naturally enters my mind when I say "woke up" :)

To update: I've postponed sending the phone back to AT&T. Like others on this thread, I've managed to use automatic task killer + juice defender to squeeze out ~12 hours of light usage and 10 hours of moderate usage (theoretically 14 hours of no usage). I'm probably going to buy the "expert" version of juice defender to see if that will bring me to the ~14 hours of moderate use that I'm after.

I've also replaced Automatic Task Killer with TaskKiller Pro since it's free in the amazon app store today (may not keep it, but it's worth a shot).

I read today that there's a baseband update out now, one forum user posted that he thought noticed better battery life, but wasn't sure. Can anyone else out there speak to that? I'm still hopeful that there's some power management bug that's keeping the display in a quasi-active state unnecessarily during standby.

i get between 8 to 10 hrs of heavy usage. i do notice that the display uses most of the battery even when its in standby which i dont get

today i took the phone off the charger 9 hrs ago phone at 31% as of right now

Juice defender free version and ATK pro have signifigantly improved my battery time. It was noticeable within the first hour of medium use after installing the two apps.

When I got my phone I used the phone all the way down till it was about to die and told me to charge it before it did. So I did. The next morning I woke up and pulled it off at about 6:30 and had been using it all day with moderate use since it was only my second day I am still tinkering with it. It is now almost 11 at night and my battery is just down to 19%. I'm not sure if that conditioning stuff works or not but it just felt like good practice. I have beautiful widget, stock news, and the social staus widget running set up with sync every 4 or so hours. My screen is on auto adjust. I have only used wifi tonight for maybe an hour so it has all been using the network. I also have the stock black background. I remember reading somewhere that wallpapers with a lot of color will drain your battery since the light has to light up each pixel or something. My screen use has been at about 80% on battery use stats or whatever. Try using that wallpaper see if that helps. I am not rooted and with touchwiz 4.0 I don't really see a reason, it's great and the bloatware isn't half as bad as my inspire was. I had widget locker on my inspire and it drained it horribly. I also use lauchers, had launcher pro and go launcher and while they were great they will probably drain the battery a bit. I had reset my inspire to factory and the battery still just overall sucked. If nothing works maybe you just have a bad battery and should talk to samsung see what they say.

Little disappointed today, went to bed lastnight with 1/2 a battery left, i decided to see what battery life I had in the morning....7hrs later the phone was dead....unrooted and very much out of the box. the battery life has been terrible and I'm not sure I can live with a phone that I need to make sure I have a charger everywhere I go......sucks cause I really liked the phone size.

Since Sunday I'm testing my battery on the Infuse. I turned on 3 email accounts, had both wi-fi and bluetooth on. Other than that, the phone did not get much usage. At the end of the day, my battery was down to about 43%.

Juicedefender reports it improved my battery performance yesterday by 174%

I watched a movie, made calls, wifi internet browsed, GPS off and on, heavy use day and I made it 15 hours without plugging it in

I just downloaded juice defender as well. Where does it report how much battery it saved you?

OMG! I downloaded JuiceDefender today and am totally impressed. Awesome app. I have yet to write a review in the Android Market, but JuiceDefender will be my first there. Thanks for the tip, guys.

I have downloaded Juice Defender and what a difference, I'm now at 19 hours off the charger and still have 45% battery left, I was very close to giving up on the Infuse just due to the battery life but I think we got a winner now!!!

Tried to write a review today and it say I have to install the app 1st, kind of wierd since I'm using it...Looking deeper it appears they have a new one called JuiceDefender Beta, not sure I want to download that one just incase it doesn't work...

What type of JuiceDefender are you guys downloading? The Plus Version or Ultimate? I want to give one of these a shot. Plus would be good?
