Battery draining super fast?

I posted this somewhere else by mistake but I think this is the right forum.

I recently got the s5 mini. The battery drains like crazy even if it's just sitting on my desk. It can go from 40% to 25% (while using it) in 1/2 hour. Or from 100% to 90% with no usage, just sitting on my desk.
I tried removing apps, I tried using power saving mode. Nothing helps.
I got an extra battery from the manufacturer thinking mine was a bad obe but the new one I got is even worse, it shuts off the phone at 20% after acting all strange and not responding to commands.
I just bought another battery and waiting to receive and see if it works any better.
Comparing my s5 mini battery life to my ipad, the Ipad has a much much better battery life, I would say it lasts easily double the time.
I really dont know what to do .... My battery drains literally in 5 hours, which is ridiculous.
At 8 am I had 100%, by 11am I was down to 63% just checking my mail, and searching for 2 things on the browser
Help?
Thx

Go to Settings and Battery to see which apps are using the majority of the battery. It may be obvious from that but if not you can select the graph/chart to go to another screen to see some additional details. The thing that kills my battery is when my phone is struggling to get a mobile network signal and you can see that on the second screen referred to above. It doesn't happen often however. You can try uploading the screen images to here so we can have a look to see if it's anything obvious.

Also, I forgot to mention that it takes the longest time to charge, maybe 7% or so in an hour!

Include a screenshot with the graph on it and the second screenshot when you click on the graph

It happened again, have been sing the ohone for 30 mins. It was 90% full and it's down to 78% with just simple browsing and checking my email. No movie streams or music! Is this normal?
Wonder why it says screen is on high, I put it on auto adjust and it's usually very dim.

Its a bit difficult to say what may be causing the battery drain as the graph is only for a 22 minute period and nowhere near long enough to draw any firm conclusions. During that time though the screen was on virtually all the time and the device was "awake" for all the time (doing something in the background even if the screen was off) which are the 2 main causes for drain. The mobile network signal is fine though and not constantly trying to get a signal. I would suggest letting your battery drain completely until it powers off and then doing a full charge then repeat the drain and full charge once more. You shouldn't normally let the battery drain completely but as long as you don't do it every week then a couple of times is fine. You'll need to use a wall charger to do the charge otherwise I'll take ages. This should "condition" the battery into knowing what is flat and what is full and be able to better estimate your usage. Then just use it as normal and don't get too hung up if it drains a lot after using it constantly for an hour or so. A Motorola support guy told me about the draining and charging trick and I do it with every new device now. For info I get 2 days battery out of my phone but WiFi turns off over night and I'm a lightish user but you should be able to get a day no problem.

Thanks! I did the draining trik once already, will do it one more time.
I also bought a new battery (my 3rd in 2 months) ... Waiting to get it and see if it helps. The second one was given me by the manufacturer but when it gets to 20% phone stops responding and shuts off on its own.
The phone is new, I bought it 2 months ago ... i am thinking of trying to return it as it's causing me anxiety ... Cant get out without feeling I'll be left with no battery in no time. I had a blackberry before and never had such a problem...
I do charge it through a wall charger, sometimes even overnight charge will leave me with nly 80% full in the morning, ridiculous :(

If an overnight charge only gets you to 80% then there's something wrong. I would have said the battery but if you've had the same with 2 batteries then it sounds like the phone. If you do ever get to 100% then monitor the awake time in the battery stats and if it always appears to be awake then go back to first battery screen and look at which app(s) are high in the list. Good luck.
