Battery Drains Faster After January Update

Yeah I'm getting more battery drain after the January update. Especially when idle, seems to just use a lot more battery when not in use.

For all of Google's talk about how efficient the Tensor processor is and they designed it for efficiency (they didn't btw), it's not very good battery life considering the size of the battery.

Yeah. I'm really bummed to see my battery life worse like this. I was extremely happy with the batt. Life pre-January update too. Also most of the bugs are still present, and have even noticed a few more.

Have you guys tried turning 5g off and using 4g LTE? After doing that even prior to the updates makes a huge difference I'm getting a good full 2 days. Since my city 5g is not available everywhere it keeps searching for it and I think that's the reason why mine was draining like crazy.

Mobile network again shot up after Jan update between 38 and 65% of battery usage but I don't see anything in GSAM to explain that.

Does anyone know how to reset the rolling battery usage in settings?

Well... It seems that my battery life has gotten a lot better in the last several days. I've gotten almost 5 hours of screen on time today and still have 45% battery left. The battery life Seems to have fixed itself. I did notice (not sure if it's coincidental or not) that the battery life started getting better after I drained the phone down to 30 or 40 percent before charging to full. Before that I had been keeping it on the charger more frequently and/or toppling it off constantly (Everytime the battery got around 70% or so). I'm pretty happy with the battery life as it is now and, honestly with the device overall.

So I am 6 days in for my second go-around with the pixel 6 pro. After the new update the regular pixel 6 the battery life was phenomenal I would get between 7 to 8 hours of screen on time I've only had the pixel 6 pro for about 5 days and right now I'm averaging just under 7 hours of screen on time maybe it'll get better maybe it won't but I'm kind of happy with the new update look for the future updates as well

Glad to hear that , my battery life pretty good also.

Does everyone realize that with this phone the screen on time resets at midnight. So if you're just scrolling through your phone until 1:00 in the morning while it's on a charger and then when you wake up in the morning for work, it may already have an hour to hour and a half screen on time, but it was on the charger. The way this phone reads is so weird, but to truly get a accurate reading, you have to disconnect your phone from the charger at midnight and don't use it until you actually are going through your day

Yeah it's really different. And if you do choose to charge it overnight Just once it hits midnight lol. Don't activate the screen or it will begin accounting for screen on time so it's kind of hard to get a true reading on how much screen on time people are getting. I really hope Google can change how they account for screen on time pretty soon, itll make it a whole lot easier for everyone

I thought it was a rolling percentage for the past 24 hrs -- so it doesn't reset at a given time, but rather constantly adjusts the percentage to reflect the last 24 hrs.

Wish it had more information like Samsung gives a 7 day view over and think compensate for that

No it resets at midnight. So I'm sure for many like myself I'm using my phone past midnight with it plugged in to the charger. So its just accumulating screen on time and then by the time I take it off the charger in the morning and go throughout my day. The numbers actually skewed because it's been calculating not the time off the charger but just after midnight

Mine doesn't reset at midnight. I'm not sure when it does but it definitely isn't midnight.

Still having a wakelock issue though. I believe it's phone app but not sure could be messages with chat enabled. Airplane/restart released whatever was doing it. Turned off chat will see if that enables deep sleep again. Hopefully next update addresses it.
