Battery dwindling?

Hey guys, I don't know what's going on with my battery but this has been the worse I have seen since getting this replacement. My fast charging also charges the phone super slow. Sometimes I have to unplug the cord and replug it in order for the phone to fast charge. I have accubattery and greenify and nothing seems out of the ordinary.

Hello! Try draining the phone completely; then plug it in and see how it performs after charging to a hundred percent. Are you using the charger that came with your phone? How long have you had the replacement?

Luckily, LG has a two-year warranty, so I'm sure you'll be able to grab another replacement if need be!

It would help to see more detailed stats. Charge up to 100%, then let it drain to 20-30% with normal usage, without charging in between. Then show us:

1. The main Settings>Battery screen.
2. The fullscreen battery graph screen (which shows Awake time and Cell Signal Strength).
3. The Screen category (to see total Screen On time).
4. The Cell Standby category, if present (to see Time Without Signal).

You might have to install a 3rd party battery monitor, like GSam Battery Monitor, to get the Cell Signal Strength graph.

I've done that. Twice. And yeah I'm using original cables. I've had the replacement for about a month and a half.

That is the full screen battery graph. Charged phone to 90% and restarted it because background apps wouldn't clear. Phone shouldn't drain 30% while I was at therapy with all apps cleared. I don't charge my phone to 100% anymore kills battery life in the long run

Yeah, the problem with more recent Android versions is that the Settings>Battery menu doesn't show as much information as it used to. That's why GSam Battery Monitor or similar battery monitoring apps can be helpful to get that extra info. The fullscreen battery graph on the Android system menu used to show cell signal strength and wi-fi status, but no longer.

Background apps shouldn't clear in Android -- RAM is supposed to stay mostly full, because that's how Android works. If you (or some kind of "RAM cleaner" app) are constantly closing apps out of RAM, that can actually worsen battery life, because then the system wants to reopen apps into RAM -- opening and closing take energy. Remember that apps in the background are almost always "paused," so that they're not actively using battery. They're just ready to open back up when you want to switch back to them. The exceptions would be apps that have a background service that's meant to continue (like listening to music while doing something else), or poorly coded or malfunctioning apps that are going "rogue," still actively functioning while in the background when they shouldn't be.

You're correct, the phone shouldn't drain 30% while idle for a couple of hours. But if cell signal is poor, that could happen, since poor signal is a notorious battery eater. That's another reason why it's helpful to see battery stats and graphs from GSam Battery Monitor.

My daughter's phone had to be unplugged and plugged all the time to fast charge. Replaced the cord and the problem stopped. That's only party of your issue though.

I'm going to buy me some anker cables when I get paid. I might do a factory reset soon and monitor the battery to see if I need another replacement

The high Phone Idle still makes me wonder about cell signal strength.

I was home all day with those stats. I only use Wi-Fi at home and since the router is in my room the signal is great. Sprint's service sucks so my phone idle will be high if it's based off signal strength

The phone is still spending some energy to maintain the cell signal, since calls aren't coming via wi-fi. You'd have to turn the cell radio off via Airplane Mode (and then turn wi-fi back on) to completely prevent the cell radio from using battery.

I think this is the case even if you have wi-fi calling on as well. I have T-Mobile, and my workplace has terrible cell signal, so I always have wi-fi and wi-fi calling turned on. But my battery drain is always significantly higher when I'm at work compared to home.

For some reason Phone Idle has always been at the top of my list. Nothing else seems abnormal, so I never think anything of it.

I read elsewhere that LG seems to group a bunch of things into Phone Idle, so it may include more than just Cell Standby. But I'm not sure about that.
