I do have the tmobile variant and I have heard that there is a problem with WiFi. I disable WiFi calling and even when I don't have WiFi on the battery drain is bad. I am in a pretty strong LTE area. This makes me really nervous. The phone also gets VERY warm. I wonder if I have a defective unit? I came from the iPhone to this because I wanted to try it so bad. :/

Hoping some of these tips help. Can't see myself turning off every single thing as I'm not using it though. Seems like work that shouldn't need to be done.

It's an intrisic problem with android as the system is not as tightly controlled. It's easy enough for me so this "shortcoming" is completely overwhelmed by its advantages.

Rule #1 for a phone under replacement warranty - never spend more than 5 minutes on a problem. Bring it back and have it replaced (after backing everything up if you don't do that normally). TMobile won't either - they'll send it back up the line until Samsung gets it - and probably junks it.

Sorry to hear about your issue. On AT&T . Set up my GS6 and downloaded literally dozens of apps, 10-12 at a time. The device got barely warm enough to notice and you might not think too much of it if you weren't paying attention. I would return and exchange it for a new one.

Same here jcp. This phone rocks. Got warm, but nothing out of the ordinary. Also att. Battery seems fairly comparable to my
Note 3. I'll know for sure come Monday at work.

Back to life, back to reality. Please keep us posted.

My phone (AT&T) doesn't get warm at all but I'm still not sold on the battery life. SOT is not important to me but standby time is as I take long bike rides and I want to know my phone will have plenty of juice if needed. My iPhone and LG G3 can go for hours on standby and not drop any in the battery. I can unplug my S6 and within 30 minutes the battery drops 2% with no usage. I have already disabled all the usual suspects - wifi scanning, etc with no improvement.

Mine got warm only after initial set up. On tmobile. Battery life is adequate. I am coming from a Note 4, but battery on this seems to be average for phones that size.

How fast is your battery draining, exactly? And what iPhone are you coming from?

The only time my S6 got warm was when I ran the initial boot up and it installed all my apps, never felt it again. I'm really happy the Rogers version is limited in bloat and features.

Or someone else gets it as an insurance refurb.

Tech guru or novice, it never hurts to consult tech support. Work through the issues and determine return and exchange. Sounds like if it persists, head to tech support. That way it's documented that you made an effort to work through it. Tech support will probably endorse that decision as,well.
