Ok, I know there are many post like this and I have read through a lot of them but cant find an answer.
For some reason, my battery is taking a nose dive. I have two of them and they are both doing it so I am assuming its software related. I was getting about 10 hours out of them with an average day of calls, text and email. I had already posted a question a couple of weeks back asking if there was any software that would show me an application list and how much power they were using. No one seemed to have an answer. I could not find one either in the market.
I understand I can uninstall one app at a time but that could take weeks to figure out. I have also had many updates on a lot of the apps that I have had for awhile so I am not sure if it?s a new app or an updated app that is doing this.
I know I can just wipe it but it has taken me sooooo freakin long to get this they way I want it.
Can someone please help me troubleshoot this one?

I have downloaded one app today and that?s all of the activity so far today.
I started at 100% and here is what I have now:

1hour 47 minutes
60%

Android System 59%
Cell standbye 22%
Display 13%
Phone idle 6%

HTC EVO
3.70.651.1
GO Launcher EX
Honeycomb Theme

download current widget and see what it says for power draining. i keep it running on my home screen.

I downloaded it but have no idea what it means. It did say 88ma and now it refreshed and says 46ma

That is a low draw of power so, it may not be an app problem. What does the widget show when the phone is plugged in?

Not what it's supposed to be. Plugged into a wall charger, you should be showing over 500mA

First, try cleaning off the usb port on the phone. If you have compressed air (like for your computer) use that. If not, a GENTLE brushing with a small, clean brush (new toothbrush, for instance). Do the same for the charger. Then plug it back in.

That's better than before but, still low.

Try a different charger and usb cord.

If it stays that low then you should consider taking it to Sprint. There may be a problem with the usb port on the phone or the charging circuit.

I will and thank you for your help. This is usinga usb cord on my laptop.

I still need to address why it is draining so fast after being completely charged.

Did you try a battery pull to reset the phone? Wait a minute before dropping the battery back in and restarting. It could be that your batteries are having a problem too. It could also be the fact that the batteries never really charged completely. Bring the original with you to the store. (If the second one is a third party brand, I'd leave it home.)

After restart, go to your home page then tap Menu / Applications / Running Services and you can see what's running. There are other apps that will tell you what is using resources the most but, you have other things to work out before driving yourself crazy. LOL

theres a huge problem with the evo battery...i been through 6 different ones already they all short out..i only use the htc charger been through 2 of those and 3 evos...HTC needs to step there game up and make better batteries...Even the evo shift having the same issue

I seem to have the same issue at Seideo 3500 mAh. It seems to only give me 8 hrs before it dies . I have gown through 5-7 charging cycles.

You need to look at what you are using and what percentage of battery power is being used by each. There are different apps that tell you what's using power. I use Battery Widget. After you download it, go to Widgets and install it on the home screen. It will not show up in the app drawer so, don't look for it there.

After installing the app, tap on it, then tap on Battery to bring up a list of what's running. It will monitor battery usage of different functions.

Have you tried battery Calibration?
1) Turn your device ON and Charge the device for 8 hours or more
2) Unplug the device and Turn the phone OFF and charge for 1 hour
3) Unplug the device Turn ON wait 2 minutes and Turn OFF and charge for another hour
Your battery life should almost double

i was having the same issue and I think it was one app i downloaded from the market, i uninstalled everything and changed battery and now the phone is back to normal. now im not sure if it was the first battery or one of the appz. there was actually one I think it was killing my battery. advanced app killer or something like that.

computers don't put out much amps. it takes twice as long at least to charge your phone. and you probably won't get the full charge.

specially if your using a laptop with the older usb 1.1.

try using the wall charger and see what numbers you get. the wall gives more juice and a faster charge.

another drawback is that the stock battery really does suck. it takes twice as long to charge. so you really need the wall charger.

my 3500 has higher number from pc and even higher with a walmart charger. it can be completely dead and still charges in half the time the stock battery ever did.

i get numbers of 800 - 950 from my walmart wall charger on my 3500 battery. i never get over 500 with the stock battery.

Battery calibration is needed for exteneded batteries to function properly, also an SBC kernel would make it last nearly 2 days....
