Battery issues

Ever since lollipop update I've had issues with battery drain. Traded in my first 2nd Gen when I went to t-mobile and came back to att a week later. Got a new moto X. On the first one it seemed to be related to WiFi issues. I would turn it on and the phone would die within 4-6 hours. This time around I turned off most settings relating to that. Noticed a bit of a change. I'm definitely getting a longer battery life but doesn't seem like it is where it should be. Just figured I'd take some screenshots and see if anyone has any thoughts. That graph sure does take a nose dive and I haven't used my phone that much for half the day. Some might say 17 hours is a lot and if I had used it more today I would agree. I just changed a lot of the WiFi stuff yesterday so maybe it will make a difference going forward.

1. 17 hours is a lot. (Most people are happy if they can get a full workday on a single charge.)

2. Discharging the battery down past 40% will shorten its life. See The Care and Feeding of Lithium Polymer Batteries.

3. Wifi doesn't draw that much, unless it's not connected and searching for a signal. Also, from about 3PM, your cellular signal is weak, and that costs battery, because it the phone receives a weak signal it increases its transmitter power so the tower won't receive a weak signal.

So if it's not good to go past 40 percent then doesn't that essentially mean I'm looking for a outlet all the time?
Yea the signal after 3 makes sense. At work it's not very strong. Anything to help that not affect the battery as much?

Wow... over 4 hours of screen on time over 17 hours @ 21% battery... I can barely get about 2 hours of screen on time over a 15ish hour period... and that is with an excellent lte signal all the time...

Sigh...

There's definitely something going on with your phone I'd use gsam and see exactly what's going on. I get 4-5 hours sot with a full day and others seem to get about the same.

I don't put too much stock in all these battery care tutorials. Like most I charge at the end of the night with anywhere from 15% or less left. Also top it off before leaving the house on other occasions. After all these years have never had a battery go bad or experience accelerated discharge.

I have tried using gsam, betterbatterystats+, and wakelock detector to figure out what is going on. It was always that network location provider thing that kept the phone awake. gsam always showed google play services as the top consumer of battery. I tried factory resetting, flashing back to kk and taking the ota to LL, turning off google now, smart lock, etc. None of this has helped. I've pretty much given up on it...

My Moto X now shows 100% battery life all the time. Anyone know what the issue is?
