Battery life after 5.1 update

I am a light user, however I wear my moto 360 all day for work and I go from 630am till about 1030p and then my battery is at about 5%. That's good enough for me.

Here is my battery life from 6:30am to 11:30pm on a regular work/commute day. Aside from notifications of texts and emails, Citymapper was used to track bus arrival times, and the audio player controls were used as well to change tracks.

This is with wifi turned on, and ambient mode turned off.
Watchface is Pujie Black, which I have found to be the best on battery use so far.

My battery has had some troubles with sudden drops in life. I take it off the charger and it drops ~20% in an hour. If I charge it back to full, then it seems to be fine. This happens about every other day. So, today I decided to FDR and see if that helps.

@drybear How do you get that detailed information - which app?
That is part of the Android Wear app.

Launch the Android Wear app, then click on the gear icon in the upper right-hand corner.
Under "device settings," click on "Moto 360."
Then click on "Watch battery" to get your watch's battery history graph.

Thank you DryBear! I had no idea that clicking on "Moto 360" would open up another screen!!

For me it's been abysmal. I have a 2nd gen moto E and before the update, I could get about 30 hrs on full charge with heavy usage. Now after update, I get 12 just from having it on. It's horrible.

Hey I just bought the watch and it went through 2 updates.
Does it take a few days after the update for things to settle down?

I've had a Moto360 since September. After every update (or factory reset) it normally takes a couple of days for the watch to calibrate the usage of the battery. However, with the most recent update it took about 10 days until it settled in. Even then the battery hasn't returned to it's former self. It used to burn the battery at around 3.3% per hour. Now it's closer to 5%. I can get through the day (about 16 hours) and will have about 25% left when I put it on the dock when before the most recent update it would be over 50%.

Thanks for the info. I just hope it lasts me from morning to night, otherwise it will not be a very useful wearable.

It's not really a battery issue, it's a calibration issue. But it doesn't matter because when the software thinks the battery is done it just shuts down.

I would recommend that you don't add a lot of apps for a while so that you can get a baseline. Then add no more than one app per day so that you can see the effect that particular app has on battery. Some apps will eat the battery but the only way to know which one it is is by adding them one at a time.

Hmm so you are saying that the phone thinks the battery is dead but actually might be 30% or something.
Interesting that it would have that issue.

Really like this watch so far, I added a few apps already but will delete all if I have battery issues and try again.

Yes, all smart devices work this way. I put a 10,000mah ZeroLemon battery in my Galaxy Note 3 and it took about 3 full charges for the phone to calibrate the battery properly. And, that took a while because a full charge lasted for 3 days. For most rooted phones, however, there's a quick way to reset the calibration.

Recently I've been going from 6a-10p with 30% remaining. I love the Wear Battery Stats app - let's me know what time the battery will die.
