Battery Life discussion thread.

I had no issues on S20 Ultra with AOD on, but the same settings on my Note Ultra and I had to turn my AOD off so I could get the same life out of the Note 20.

Can someone explain why Yt drains me like 25% per hour. I watched YT videos where people are getting 10-15 % average per hour draining.

Mine is exynos version.

Night and day difference in battery life using 60hz. This is for 60hz. 8.5% for every hour of screen on time. Using 120hz, it was like 14% per hour

I would say this is why no QHD at 120hz

I leave 120hz on until it reaches say 30% and i put on medium power mode and i get an extra 2 hours screen on time to last me through the day so for me that works well.

How do I choose when medium power saver is activated ?

So far soild but it is the weekend at 50%

I just switch on power mode in panels when it reaches 30%

You can always set it via bixby routines

Good idea. I think I will set up a routine for those odd days when I know I really cannot charge up anywhere. Maybe throttle back the refresh rate, different power mode, throw it into dark mode, etc.

Just watched YT video where guy compares 60 and 120Hz battery drain. When 120hz die 60hz still has 30% battery and thats alot, u can get like 1-2 more SOT.

I have also question. Do u guys use adaptive powe saving mode, dose it make any difference?

With the amount of SOT I have in a day, there is absolutely no chance of me running the battery down, even using 120hz, but I do appreciate that there are a lot of power users out there that will. My first setup was 60hz screen with adaptive power saving mode then battery optimised, but I noticed that the phone will restrict things when power gets lower, which is fine, that's the general idea, but I have now decided to use optimised like before but turn off adaptive power saving and put screen to 120hz and looking at my screen on time I should still get around 7 - 8 hours, but this will be over 2 days, I have never got even close to that screen on time in one day as I simply don't use my phone that long.

Adaptive power saving will restrict things like turning off 5g and turning your battery to medium power saving rather than optimised.

Surprised non of y'all don't carry a power pack.

I'm always near my car.
And if not.
I carry a spare travel charger to charge it.

The battery has to last about all day.

I could see it mattering if you have no access to charging, but topping off is not an issue for me.

I'm starting to see a trend here with people getting over 6 hours of SOT, and that's social media apps. I'm going to disable the Facebook app for a day and just use Chrome instead and see if that's the culprit.

How much does it say Facebook is actually using? I've been reading about how bad Facebook is since my S8. I don't buy it. A phone in 2020 shouldn't require you to disable one of the worlds most popular apps so it functions properly.

I agree. Yesterday it said it only used 12% of the battery. I'm sure it all boils down to the screen being too powerful for the 4500mAh battery.

I'm sure if needed we will carry a battery pack on days where you won't have easy access to charger like a theme park or hike. But general day to day I don't ever have a need to carry battery pack.

I do like the Samsung portable one which also has the capability to wirelessly charge phone or watch. Got to love Samsung pre order credits, you can pile up accessories every 6 months which otherwise I don't buy

Never used a battery pack, use maximum mode in power saving what I do if I know I won't be around power to charge for 1 day lol

I've also never found the need to use a powerpack. I think battery life is overblown. Most of the world has electricity readily available.
