Battery Life discussion thread.

Anyone know if it is possible to turn off 5G for AT&T model? I have noticed battery life goes to crap around 4-4ish hours SOT whenever I have poor reception and is trying to stay connected to 5G. On Wi-Fi or "5Ge" (AT&T's LTE), my battery is ok around 5-6 hours SOT.

Edit: Found a way from Reddit. For us AT&T users, we need to type in on dialer *#*#4636#*#* , then go to phone-info, and set preferred network type to LTE/UMTS auto. I have noticed it doesn't switch to 5G anymore and stays at "5Ge" which is AT&T's 4G LTE. Also, in order to turn back on 5G, set the preferred network type to CDMA auto(prl) and reboot.

No can't turn it off , I have 5G on my unlocked with Att sim and average about 7 to 8 hours battery , this on beta 11

SO! Read through some of this thread. Considering the Note 20 ULtra as my next phone, coming from Pixel 2xl. Also considering the Pixel 5, and lastly the One Plus 8pro. Used to have Galaxy s3, so I remember old TouchWiz. I guess OneUI is much better.

So, it looks like battery life is basically good? Not fantastic, but good enough for 1 day? That's all I really need. I hated babysitting battery life and doing that whole thing, it got to be too much. Out of the box, battery life should be pretty good? Thanks for any input!

I have the regular 20 and with heavy use I get a solid 14 hours before I need to charge the battery management on the note 20 series is awesome IMO.

I've been averaging about 7.5 to 8 hours screen time daily and I love it!

What I did was turn off 5G and put all my apps I don't use in deep sleep mode from settings. Once I did that I noticed an immediate differenceScreenshot_20201108-234945_Device care.jpg

WOW. Seems like easy things to do, too, not like anything that is a big compromise! Is it easy to put apps in deep sleep? Like, do I have to individually do it to apps, or is it a setting where I can switch it once and if an app is not being used for a while, it'll be put in deep sleep? Thanks for any info!

Its easy just to to settings -> device care -> battery -> app power management -> deep sleeping apps, then add the apps you don't use and thats it!

Good description, but I'd add that you need to scroll all the way to the bottom of the displayed deep sleeping apps to see the add apps button. Did that a while ago, and it helped a little.

I really like my N20U, but the battery life is still not as good as my Note 9's was.

thanks! Question, so say that I Deep Sleep the app for Facebook. I won't get any notifications, etc. When I press of the app icon, it'll open like normal? Then, when I close out of the app, like back button, what happens? Does it automatically go back to Deep Sleep, since it's on the list?

not as good, but good enough for the day? Like... 6ish hours of SOT?

Ironically I'm not getting as good battery life with my snapdragon unit as compared to my previous exynos note 20u.
Averaging about 12% for 1 hour of screen on time.
Day 2 of ownership.

Edit . Just checked GSAM and I've used 20% battery for 1hour and 50 mins of screen on time. My OnePlus 8 pro would have been on almost 2.5 hours for that usage
My tests are solely on mobile data.

Yeah, it's good enough, and close to what my Note 9 will do. Just a little disappointed it's not better. I've grown to expect a brand new, flagship level phone to improve on the last generation phones battery life, if even just a little. Just not the case this time.

I've had the Note 20 Ultra since launch. For me, battery life is not as good as it was with my Note 10 Plus. I get about 4 1/2 to 5 1/2 hours of SOT per day. I'm almost exclusively on WiFi. Sure, I'd like to have better battery life, but it gets me through the day and it charges quickly with the enclosed charger. So battery life is fine for my usage. Regardless, I think the phone is excellent. I'm very happy with it.

thanks for the input! HMM... i don't like 4.5 hours of SOT, I was hoping more for 6. i wonder what the factors are.

If you look through this thread, there are quite a few people getting more than 4.5 hours of SOT, some a lot more. Some have good detail about their usage and settings.

Put to sleep anything you can't delete.

If you are losing battery..

A app is most likely drawing power.

Things got really better on day 3 for me. Solely on mobile date and got almost 6.5 hours of SOT time for 50% battery usage. 120hz was on, as was google location sharing and telegram and whatsapp to name a few suckers inc dual sim.Screenshot_20201113-014953_AccuBattery.jpeg

I currently have an S10+ that I charge 2 to 3 times a day. It's getting ridiculous. I hope my new Note 20U will be better than what I have now.

I have to charge my S10+ at least twice a day. I only got it in January. But I am a very heavy user and get about 4-5 hours SoT.
