Battery life dropped from 24% to 0% instantly?!

I was sitting on my couch using my phone when it was at 24% battery, then all of a sudden it just powered off! I tried turning it back on to see that the battery was dead. This has never happened before and I've had my N4 since last October. I never let my battery get below 15% before charging it. Could I need a new battery? If I hadn't been home when this happened, I would've freaked. Has this happened to anyone else? I attached a pic, you can see what time it dropped.

Mine has been doing something similar, only once it reaches 15% it shuts off. Not sure whats going on

Yeah, get a new battery. Mine was doing the same thing. I got my Note 4 in October as well. With the new battery, all is well again.

I haven't had this problem, but I'm worried that it might happen eventually

Yep. It's time for a new battery. Mine happened the same way and I just ordered new battery on amazon for $13. All is good now.

Mine did that last week! Seems a little coincidental. You guys have 5.1.1 by any chance?

Yea mine died at 8% one time. I've had mine since Oct. I'm going to be buying a new battery soon.

Mine did this last night. Was around 30-35% then it just died.

However I have 3 batteries so I'm not worried if one is under-performing. It will be unhappy if they ALL do this. then it's something funky with the phone.

5.1.1 here

Same thing happened to my Note 4. I think it's a issue caused by the fast charging. If you charge the battery using the slow a few times it gets better. Only using the normal charge and ull eliminate the issue.

But overall best advice is to change battery as fast charge is kinda important.

Feel for the new note 5 users. I'm sure they'll get these fast charging issues within a year of use... Hope Samsung treats these customers well and changes their batteries.

I was thinking the same thing: Fast Charge killing the battery quicker. I just bought two Amzer replacements on Amazon. Always had good luck with them. I think I'll switch to normal charge overnight.

Probably, don't forget that Quick Charge heats up the battery a lot and that is indeed the primary enemy of the battery.

Gonna switch to normal tonight and report back.

This is becoming more and more something I'm hearing from 5.1.1 users... You're on Sprint right? My friend said the same thing, he was around 22% and the phone dropped down to 0%.

Yes, I'm on Sprint. Also I was streaming a 'how to' video so working the phone a bit (wasn't just sitting there and it died, I was actually making it work)

Would be good to also compare after a few slow charge cycles.. Look forward to seeing if your results mirror mine.

Mine did it today at 42%, so I switched to a new Anker battery. We'll see if it stops.

ever since lollipop, my phone has had battery life issues. on top of that, my phone usually shuts off around 10% instead of 0%. today, it shut off at 26%, i turned it back on, showed 10% and shut off again. turned it back on and showed 0% and shut off again.

i have 2 batteries that i swap in and out. i think i'll label this battery with a post-it noting that it's the 26% battery and see if the trend continues. if it happens with both batteries, i'm going to assume it's a phone problem. if only one battery, i guess a battery problem.

anyone else find theirs is related to the phone and not the battery?

It's on the Software side for sure.

You are on 5.0.1 correct? There is a huge battery sucker from the Mobile Data if it's turn on.. Loads of people on XDA already confirmed that it's an issue with OTA 5.0.1.

On top of that, you also have the insane amount of battery suck that is with bluetooth connection on 5.0.1.

90% of the times what's sucking my battery is the Android System rather than the screen, since I manage the screen manually to the lowest possible always.

Only thing I can understand is that my Zenwatch is connected, because anything else is normal use just like I did on Kit Kat and didn't had to do 2nd charges throughout the day or swap battery.

Yes, I am on 5.0.1. Both of my batteries are showing as aroung 8-15% when they shut down and show 0%. I guess getting a new battery won't solve anything...
