Battery Life Fix!

What is everybody seeing for sleep/awake time? Here are my numbers from battery detail and cpu spy.

I've been getting great battery life while still using Google+. I did deny instant upload though and if you choose to upload all your pictures it will use a lot of memory and power uploading.

I can't discount that G+ might cause people battery drain, but it is not causing any for me. The key is what is above though. If you have "instant upload" enabled and you take a lot of pics, it will be using the network in the background much more.

Has anyone tried just closing out what ever you have listed in the recent app list? I've started doing this today and noticed awake time matches screen time when I've done this. Before when I didn't close recent apps my awake time was more than double what my screen time was. The awake time was all over the place.

I find myself always closing all of the apps listed in the recent apps list... It's kind of annoying with no real clear indication of what that list does. Coming from a Blackberry environment (Playbook and Bold) I have to say that the multitasking was much better; apps close when you back button out of them and they stay open if you use the long push on the menu button to switch to something else. With the GNex I find that the switching between and closing of apps and what happens to the running processes of those apps is quite ambiguous.

Fully charged the battery and disabled G+ before unplugging. An hour in and only 13mins awake. That's definitely an improvement for me!

If you don't want to completely disable G+, try just turning on the restrict background data for that app as discussed above. Seems to achieve the vastly improved keep awake time without having to disable the app altogether.

Go to the bottom of all apps click on Google plus then hit enable.

I had a ton of stuff syncing in the background. It all synced through my gmail account so only my gmail account showed up. I went through app by app and disabled all the junk that was syncing in the background. I couldn't believed it all. Last couple of days need to charge by 1PM. Today still at 80% after 6PM.

Im assuming you sent to Settings>Apps>running, but after that where did you look to see who if anyone was syncing?

Are you running stock? I'm rooted running Revolution 2.1.2 and was able to disable.

aha, no wonder. yea i'm just on stock 4.02.

the thing is my biggest culprit is screen time and there's really no way to avoid that unless i don't use it.

i wish i had gotten that extended battery when it was just $25. :(

I picked up two today at the Verizon store, they said it's going to be good for a while.

So an update. Prior to going to sleep i had google plus disabled, and both fb and goodle plus background data disabled. Also had all location services unchecked. Woke up after charge and atv100%. Checked email, put in pocket and went to work. 1.5:hours later I looked and STILL AT 100%. My os awake time was 2 seconds!

Yesterday at same time I was already down to 89% with matching battery tine and awake time.

Unsure if all or some of the maneuvers cured my ailment.

Well guys, after F-ing around with some settings my battery usage has changed. The OS is now using more battery than the screen, but it is only staying on when I am actually ON THE PHONE!

I pretty much did all of that and have had the exact same results! Battery drained a bit more because I was playing some angry birds before I went to sleep.

BMW,

Are you talking about % battery used? As I mentioned earlier that is an irrelevant stat. If I unplug phone and keep it off for 6 hours, then turn on phone, my screen time will be 1% and os time 99% even though 98% left on battery. Only important stat IMHO is awake time OR AN aberration app...like if angry birds shows 80% and u used it for a second.

Remember 99% of 1% battery discharged is almost nothing.

The awake time for the Android OS has dropped significantly from what it has been at. It's usually at 6 hours, but now it has dropped to roughly the same amount of time I am actually using the phone to do stuff. The battery has not drained as much as it has been previously either. I'd lose 20% while I was sleeping for 7-8 hours. It was nowhere near that when I woke up this morning.

All I know is something I did fixed the issue I was having.

anyone tried enabling g+, but just blocking background data? Wonder if that has same positive effect as disabling app.
