Battery Life is Just Awful!

I am not completly new to Android. I had an HTX One X for about a week and then broke and I went back to Windows Phone. I am a HUGE Windows Phone fan, but got fed up with the lack of apps like not having Instagram.

Anyways, my GS3 battery is terrible. I have done a few full cycle charges and the battery isn't getting better. I dropped 30% in 3 hours with little to no use. If others are having this problem, ill return the phone.

Just get a new battery first. Then if its not better then its most likely the phone.

I was originally getting about 8 hours of use a day but since switching off gps going to apex launcher installing wallpaper changer instead of live wallpaper and using only the one widget for weather I get about 25 hours of mixed usage...

Android without widgets is basically a more customizable iOS. Widgets are what set it apart from the rest.

Is something keeping the phone in Awake state? I had Gallery keeping the phone awake for hours. Turns out it was trying to sync with Picasa but I don't use Picasa. In settings/accounts and sync i selected my google account and unchecked Sync with Picasa Web Albums.

Mine was bad for the first day or two. Then I got rid of a app that was trying to sync periodically. All better now. I have the screen at max bright, no auto. This phone has excellent battery life. Try regularly holding down the home button till the manager pops up, then hitting remove all.

I only have 2 email accounts syncing and nothing else. No Picasa syncing. I have the screen at 90% brightness. I do remove apps when I am done with them from the multitasking menu.

I have been getting excellent battery life. Today I have made and received over 50 phone calls, browsed the web, checked the weather, done emails all day and at 7:45 p.m. still had 40% power. I am recharging now because I am going to be "on-duty" all night. I have widgets and all such, dont use picassa, but I am quite happy with the battery life.

My first full charge (got the phone yesterday) shows over 7 hours, 50% Screen time, 51% charge remaining. I really can't complain as I have beating the phone up, downloading, installing, updating, reading, etc (explaining the 50% Screen time). I will attempt to attach a screen shot...

For everyone with battery issues please keep in mind this is an android phone. It only does what you allow it so if your experience bad battery-life not related to intense usage.. then its probably an app you downloaded or setting you changed. Don't bash the phone for your lack of understanding. Syncing all day kills and some poorly written apps never turn off..

THe best way to check this is look at your battery usage logs and see who the culprit is. If its the screen turn the brightness down. if its and app.. kill it.. Dont just stop it but get in the task manger ram setting and kill it.

All I have done is read the threads on this forum and the overall Galaxy SIII forum and follow the recommendations that fit for me and as I posted yesterday over 7 hours and 53% battery remaining and (this is the important part) Screen time was around 50% because the phone is new and I was beating it to death. It is also not like I have great cell service as I work in a Trailer that is metal and attenuates the signal dramatically and my house is over the hill from the closest tower and I get crappy signal strength on the ground floor and marginal on the second floor so the radio is working to get and keep a signal which of course drains battery life and I had Power Save turned OFF. Time will tell but I agree with litlprince that you need to watch and keep an eye on what is consuming battery (in my case it is ME) and if you don't need it then turn that off. Once you spend a bit of time tuning the SIII I bet you get pretty good battery life.

I had to charge my phone twice yesterday and all I did was send a few emails and texts. I am just going to buy a new battery. By the way I am on HSPA+ not LTE

I dont know if you really have a faulty battery or your settings are all screwed. I check and send emails and txts throughout the day. i spend a bit of time browsing on line and a small bit of time playing games. In terms of talking on the phone i use my phone for work and i do make a number of calls.. more txts then calls though. Regardless with this kind of use i can achieve at least 36hrs usually 48hrs of use before i get a low battery warning.

Have you tried a restart? Something with apps hanging, even if you think it's closed. I had good battery to start, then bad battery life for a few days.

Someone suggested a restart and I have had no problems since.
