Battery Life is Just Awful!

I'm pretty happy with the stock battery.

This is my use yesterday with more than normal (for me at least) phone use:

Needless to say, I'm satisfied with this performance.

Now I do not live in a 4G area, and I use auto brightness with auto S-Voice disabled.

I am getting about the same performance as STL Tech Talk. Since the phone is new and I am still getting used to it and trying different things I have been using it a lot. The first day 7hr 15mins 53% left 51% Screen. The second day 11hr 45min 63% left 37% Screen. Now I recharge the battery each night so I have not tried to see how far it will go until I get 2% left, I may this weekend.

Now I have moved to the Nova launcher and have a couple of widgets. I have shutdown S Voice and a number of other vendor added things that I did not need or want. Both of my locations (work and home) have crappy cell signals (0-2 bars normally) so my radio is probably getting a bit of a work out. In other words not an optimal cell situation but the phone seems to handle it well.

AllPhoneNews, you probably should try a new battery. Where did you get your phone? If it is local just go down and complain. They will probably give you a new battery gratis, hell maybe a replacement phone. If you ordered it from AT&T it might not hurt to go to the local AT&T store and complain they might give you a new battery anyway. Even if they don't you can buy a new one and give it a go. It might actually be a faulty device so you might have to exchange it. But you want it to work and work properly so I don't blame you and this is a really nice phone so you want to enjoy it.

Coming from a Torch 9800 3G phone this phone is amazing. I cannot seem to keep my hands off of it.

I was initially worried about how the battery was going to work out for me based on my initial experience with it.

Picked it up last Friday afternoon and did not really get a chance to mess with it too much because we were leaving for Memphis Saturday morning.

Since we were traveling and am on US Cellular, while down in Memphis whichever carrier I was roaming on was absolutely destroying the battery. I do not know why the wireless experience in Memphis was so bad (last summer I had no issues while in Washington DC), but the data connection was slow and kept failing.

Felt like I was on Sprints 3G in St. Louis, which is terrible from my testing.

Got back to my home area and it is like a night and day experience.

I charged my phone 3 times yesterday!

My screen is 26% battery
Cell Standby, 23%
Exchange Services 21%
Email 13%
Chrome 7%
Android OS 6%
Idle 3%

Exchange Pull Services would be something I would look at. That can be hammering things in the background. I do not have Exchange connectivity so I can not help but it might be something to look at.

The life of new lithium ion batteries improves after severeal charge cycles. Wait a week or so before you spend the money on a new battery. My battery life almost doubled after 10 days of use.

It's been 5 days now. I have leave my phone plugged in at work because it will die half way through the day.

Also I need Exchange pushing my work email.

It's not normal for exchange services to almost equal the screen in battery usage.

Your echange services usage should not be that high. I would consider clearing data on the email app and re-adding your exchange account. it could be something glitched during add or a problem with your phone connecting to exchange. You can also try tweaking the email settings as far as how much of the email to pull on each receive and how many days to sync. if it is having problems talking with your exchange infrastructure that could be draining more battery than you would like.
